On the outside, it looks like an insane asylum, but it’s far crazier on the inside. Just open the gates and walk up the long, winding, cobblestone driveway. Open the creaky double doors expecting to find a clean white lobby, but no it’s almost as disheveled on the inside as the outside, perhaps even more so. But it doesn’t look like an abandoned haunted house, either. There are people bustling up and down the long corridors, rushing to get from one place to another.

This place is called Simon Cowell’s School for Special Needs Kids. Special needs! Ha! That’s just a cover. What it’s actually called is Simon Cowell’s School for the Gifted. You may wonder what a Gifted is. A Gifted is what you used to read about in your fairy tale stories. The stories about wizards and witches and fairies and many more. But these creatures are no myth. The hallways are bustling with them, fairies flying overhead, shape shifters getting ready for the full moon. They’re everywhere, but nobody’s frightened. For them, this is normal.

One particular fairy flies quickly to her dorm room where her best friend is waiting for the news.

“Six,” the redheaded fairy lands, panting from the extreme flight. “Six new arrivals.”

“Six? That’s the most new arrivals at once in over a decade! Are you positive, Miranda,” her friend, Julia asks.

“Yeah, I’m sure!” her Australian accent rings out while she makes her wings disappear. “And if I heard correctly, three are boys, three are girls.”

“Hey, did you find out?” Louis asks, entering the room with his roommate, Harry, without knocking.

“Six arrivals,” Julia says, half lost in thought.

“Six?” the two wizards ask at the same time.

“That’s a lot of new arrivals!” Harry sits down on Miranda’s bed, sweeping his chocolate curls out of his face. “Are you sure you didn’t make a mistake, Mira?”

“For the last time, I’m sure!”

“I wonder what they are,” Louis says.

“We’ll find out soon enough,” Julia closes her stormy grey eyes.
