Miranda P.O.V.

“Everyone, please welcome Niall Horan.”

That’s my cue!

“Hi, I’m Miranda!” I grin in front of Uncle Si and Niall. Niall looks taken aback.

Uncle Si being used to my antics, considering I’ve been here for a little over four years, laughs fondly, “Mira is probably going to be your personal welcoming committee. She’s going to do that for the other arrivals too, I bet. Mira, would you, Julia, Harry, and Louis mind showing Niall around?”

“No problem, Uncle Si! Come on Niall,” I drag back towards the others who are shaking their heads at my hyperness.

“Niall, this is Julia, Harry, and Louis,” I introduce, gesturing to each person.

“Hi, I’m Niall,” he says shyly. I notice he has a different accent.

“Hey, mate,” Louis smiles kindly, “Where are you from?”

“Ireland.”

The door re-opens and Uncle Si enters with a girl this time. She’s under an umbrella, shading herself from the sun. I wonder why.

“Be right back,” I tell the group.

“Hi! I’m Miranda,” I say to the girl.

“Miranda, this is Ally Campell,” Uncle Si says. The girl has brown hair down to the small of her back and black eyes that make it feel like she’s staring into you’re soul. Ally is skinny and around 5’5 if I had to guess. Lucky, I’m only 4’11. And I’m sixteen!

“Hey,” she gives me a small smile. I recognize her accent right away. It’s American.

“You’re from America,” I say to her.

She chuckles, “What, can you read my mind?”

“Actually no,” I say. “I can by your accent. But I have met some telepaths before. They can be pretty annoying. But I shouldn’t be talking, right?”

She smiles awkwardly as Uncle Si leaves us muttering about something that involves werewolf droppings.

“I probably shouldn’t answer that question if I want to make friends,” she says carefully. I giggle at her reply.

“You’re funny! Come meet my friends!” It’s like déjà vu as I drag her towards the group. Niall doesn’t seem to be talking much.

We all walk around the school, me and Louis acting as tour guides, pointing out things like the bathroom and classrooms.

“So tell us about yourselves,” I say enthusiastically.

“And when she says that, she means say something you like, you’re age, and what you are,” Julia interprets.

“What we are?” Niall asks.

“You know,” Harry says, “Shape shifter, wizard, specialist.”

Niall goes first, “I’m Niall, nineteen years old, I like food and I can play the guitar, and I’m a specialist.”

“What’s your specialty?” I ask curiously. I’m a curious person!

“I can control the elements,” he answers.

“That’s so cool,” Ally pipes in. “I’m Ally, seventeen, I like swimming and playing basketball, and I’m a vampire.”

She looks down when she says vampire.

“Are you embarrassed?” Julia asks.

Ally nods a little, “About what I did, yeah. And I’m probably the only dead Gifted person here.”

“Trust me, no you’re not,” Julia says. She unfurls her feathery white wings. It takes all of our breaths away. I’ve seen it happen countless times, yet I’m still effected by it.

“I used to be a witch, now I’m an angel,” Julia whispers.

“How did you change?” Niall asks.

“I committed suicide. Usually when witches die, they turn into ghosts or spirits, but if they commit suicide, they become angels,” Julia’s eyes flood with tears. I hug her tightly, knowing this is a difficult topic for her.

“I’m alright,” she whispers. “So I’m Julia, I like to draw, I’m twenty, and as you guys know I’m an angel.”

Her words linger in the air for a moment, then Harry says, “I’m Harry, I like singing and soccer, I just turned nineteen, and I’m a wizard.”

“I’m Louis,” Louis smiles brightly, “I like carrots and singing like Harry, I’m twenty-one, and I’m a wizard too. I know you guys are both thinking, what is this old fart doing here? Well I’ve been here for six and a half years, almost as long as Jules and I pretty much live here.”

“Last but not least, me!” I shout with a giggle. “I’m Miranda, but you guys can call me Mira. I like… hmm… I like a lot of things, so I’ll skip that one. I’m sixteen and I’m a fairy.”

“If you’re a fairy then where are your wings?” Ally asks me. I smirk, deciding to show them to her. I feel the familiar tingling sensation coming from in between my shoulder blades as a pair of glittery, golden wings sprout out.

I laugh at her and Niall’s dumbfounded expression.

“There you are, Miranda,” Uncle Si walks towards us with another new arrival. “This is Liam Payne. Would you mind showing him around?”

“Of course not!” I chirp. Uncle Si walks away, leaving Liam with us. This guy is some serious eye candy, I think. He has shaved light brown hair, tan skin, and deep brown eyes. He’s tall and strong looking. He’s hot, I decide in my head.

Liam smirks at me.

“What?” I ask.

“I’m telepathic,” he says.

Those two words caused me to turn as red as my hair. He heard everything I just thought?!?

He nods suppressing a smile.

“Oh!” Julia finally gets it and bursts out laughing. She knows my personality so well.

“What? Can someone help me out? I’m lost,” Ally says.

Julia whispers the situation to her and Ally’s eyes widen to twice their size. They look at me, then start giggling. I find some very interesting cracks in the floor to study.
