Games.
There have been many of them throughout the millennia, and soon became the norm among the population. However, there was one game that stood above many in the world, a game known as Duel Monsters.
The game first came out in the year 2000 and quickly began to rise in popularity. At first, it started out as a normal card game you'd play with friends, but then a corporation known as Kaiba Corp. teamed up with Industrial Illusions -the company that created Duel Monsters- to create a device known as the Duel Disk, a device able to create holograms when the cards were placed on them. The game became so popular that there are even pro leagues and celebrities around the game. You've probably heard of them: Joey Wheeler, Zane Truesdale, Aster Phoenix, Seto Kaiba, and of course Yugi Muto. My goal is to be like them, this is the story of how I grew to be one of the greatest Duelists in the country.

*Knock* *Knock*
??: "Izuku! C'mon kiddo, you gotta wake up!"
Izuku: *groans in tiredness*
*SLAM!*
Izuku: *Jumps up scared* "WAHHHHJ!!!!!"
Izuku looked up to see the door to his room was slammed open. Standing there was a tall man with black curly hair similar to his. The man was dressed in a light grey vest, a solid black shirt that had "fancy suit" written in white kanji, dark blue denim jeans, and had a smirk on his face. This was Hisashi Midoriya.
Izuku: "Dad! Why'd you do that?!"
Hisashi: *Smirking* "Ah quit being such a fraidy cat. Now get up or you're gonna be late!"
Izuku, knowing that he didn't have school today, looked to his clock, thinking he slept through his alarm. His eyes widened when he saw the time.
Izuku: "It's only 7:00!"
Hisashi: *Still smirking* "You would be correct."
Izuku: "The exam doesn't start until 9:00!"
Hisashi: "Correct again! But the sign-ups start at 8:00, so hurry up and get ready! Your mom's already makin' breakfast."
With that, Hisashi walked out the room before closing the door behind him. Izuku sighed at his father's antics. He could never understand how his dad could be so energetic despite being in his late 40s. Deciding not to dwell on it, Izuku got out of his bed and headed to the bathroom to get ready for the day, but not before taking a look at his Deck.
Ever since Izuku was young, he had loved the game Duel Monsters. The Monsters, the strategies, the feelings of triumph in victory, he loved it all. Unfortunately, up until recently he had been on a bit of a losing streak of sorts. It wasn't that he didn't know how to play or was bad by any means, in fact he was able to beat almost anyone he dueled. His problem was in his tendency to overthink his plays, so much so he tended to think himself into a corner. To add onto that fact, he rarely had the money to buy specific or rare cards to help with his Deck, this often lead to his opponents accusing him of cheating and him being bullied, especially by his former childhood friend Katsuki Bakugou.
Even to this day, Izuku had never once been able to beat Katsuki, and the blonde loved rubbing that fact in his face. He even went as far as to try and suicide bait Izuku, telling him to pray he was born a better duelist in his next life. That day nearly broke Izuku, so much so he cut all ties with Katsuki, and vowed to defeat him one day.
