Ada came back to Wakanda a few days after Thanos was officially killed by Thor. Being in Wakanda was painful for her. There were so many Wakandans just barely getting by.
It pained Ada to see her country like this. It physically pained her. She couldn't live without her family.
At that moment, she knew she could never be the same. She felt a deep void within her that could not be filled—not even by the love and support of Wakanda. She was alone in a way that she had never been before.
Ada's entire life had been spent in the loving embrace of her family. Her mother and father were her rocks, providing her with the emotional and physical support she needed to go through life. One of her best friends, T'Challa, was her confidante and best friend, always there to listen to her stories and offer wise advice.
And then there was Shuri. Ada and Shuri had been together for only two years. They had grown to know each other so well and to love each other deeply. They had laughed and cried and shared so much of their lives together. Ada felt like she had truly found her soul mate in Shuri.
Now all of that had been taken away from her in a single, cruel moment.
Ada struggled to maintain her composure throughout the days that followed. She put on a brave face for the sake of her friends and family, especially Ramonda, but she was constantly on the verge of tears. She put her heart and soul into her work but felt like nothing she did was enough to fill the void inside of her.
The only thing she could think of that might make her feel whole again was finding a way to be reunited with her family. But that seemed impossible.
Then, one day, Ada had a thought that filled her with a glimmer of hope. She decided to propose an outrageous idea to Queen Ramonda—that she be frozen in a state of suspended animation to stop her aging so that one day she could be reunited with her family. A cryogenic chamber.

"Queen Mother," Ada said as she went into the room where she knew the queen was.
Ramonda turned around and saw Ada. Her frown turned into a smile as she saw the younger child. "Yes, my dear."
"I have a crazy idea that I don't think you'll agree to, but it's worth a try, right?"
"That's what Ime's mindset always is," she smiled about Ada's mother. "What's your idea?"
