Your brainstem is the bottom, stalklike portion of your brain. It connects your brain to your spinal cord. Your brainstem sends messages to the rest of your body to regulate balance, breathing, heart rate and more. The brain stem is essential for performing our everyday needed tasks such as; Regulate breathing- being able to breath on our own.
Heart rate- maintaining a healthy heart rate.
Blood pressure. consciousness- Being awake and asleep. Audio-visual reflexes- responding to different things being said. Taste and digestion- tasting everything and being able to digest that properly without complications. Autonomic regulation. Balance and coordination- standing on one leg and not falling over.
