Look, my cat's being euthanized today. I won't be publishing for a while.
Meowz cursed.Tufty looked over the cookbook, opened to Eeebs's favorite cookie, pufferfish cookies. He sighed, before optimistically saying "Well, now we have opposable thumbs. That'll make it easier to bake, at least." Meowz stared down "Was Eeebs some kind of master baker?" "Eh. Who knows? Maybe he got better since that time he tried to make grass salad and nearly poisoned your dad."
Meowz shook her head "We need a...whisk? And a...what is this alchemy, baking soda and baking power are different?"
"Let's just find everything in advance."
Two hours later, they both had everything out on the counter. Meowz looked over at Grayfellow, who had nodded off in a nearby armchair "Should he be looking over? You know, to make sure we don't set anything too valuable on fire?" "We're fine. We won't set anything on fire." "You sure?" "No." Tufty shrugged "Anybody else to help?" "Only Clyde. And Clyde doesn't have hands."
He sighed.
"Let's go."
Fifteen minutes later, Meowz was staring in horror at Tufty "You're supposed to cook the fish before it goes in the cookie!" Tufty waved his hand/paws around in the air "How was I supposed to know that!" "Common sense?" "I don't have a large store of that!" Meowz sighed "It's probably fine? Does fish cook in a furnace at this heat?"
Tufty sighed "Well, we can't take the fish out, so it'll stay in. It's probably fine."
Another fifteen minutes later, Meowz was gagging "Are they supposed to be that smoky?" Tufty studied the furnace, which had wisps of smoke curling out of the door. "I...seriously doubt it." "What temperature did you set the thing to?" "Three thousand, five hundred?" "What? They're supposed to go in at...three-fifty! That's the tempature copper melts at! You're gonna set the kitchen on fire!"
Tufty offered a optimistic "Well, at least they're well-cooked, huh?"
With that, the furnace burst into flames, and Meowz groaned "You're right."
Then she buried her head in her hands and walked out, hoping that fire wasn't a big deal to nether creatures.
