How to love again (Annabelle X human lover)

Chapter 4- Only fools rush in

Annabelle spent a few days making sure her brother and their friends knew she would be up top for some time and to only summon her back if it was necessary. Once she hugged them all goodbye she made her way to the surface singing a song that reminded her of the human she so desperately missed. (A/N: play the song now) "Wise men say, only fools rush in. As she finished the song she found herself in Remedy's home, a room she hadn't been in before, off to the side there was an altar of sorts and a few other witchcraft-related items. 'Strange' Anna thought, 'why would I appear in this room?' She listened for any indication of her beloved being home. She cautiously exited the room careful to not disturb the contents or any possible wards. She heard her angel's voice and went to make her presence known but stopped when another female voice followed suit. "I had a great time today Rem! Hopefully, we can see each other again soon!" "See you soon, Precious! Let me know when you get home!" A small gasp left Annabelle's lips as the door closed behind the other woman. Remedy was smiling when she heard the gasp. "Anna? Is that you?" The human turned to face her beloved demoness. "It's been a month. I've missed you!" Anna was wearing a hurt expression, "Who was she? did you replace me so easily? I promised you I would come back... I know I took longer than anticipated chérie..." Remedy stopped short sadness lacing her tone  "She was just a friend. I have waited for you for so long my love." The demoness took a hesitant step forward "I'm sorry... I thought..." "I would never do that to you." Annabelle took a step forward closing the distance between them her voice barely a whisper "Do you promise? It meant nothing?" "Of course I do. Annabelle, what's this about?" Annabelle said nothing as she pulled Remedy in for a hug a single tear escaping her eye as she held her beloved close. Remedy was concerned, "Anna please, chéri talk to me. Don't shut me out. I just got you back." Annabelle took a deep breath pulling out of the hug, holding her love at arm's length "Well you see... for a long time I was with my last partner, you might've heard of him...his name is Betelgeuse." "Beetle-" A look of recognition flashed in remedy's eyes "He's real? Is the say his name 3 timers thing real too?" Annabelle nodded "unfortunately. So we best be careful. I'll refer to him as Lawrence, he hates that." Remedy giggled "Is that his name?" "Yes. Lawrence B. Shaggoth. He absolutely hates that name. Too normal I guess. Anyway, we were together for about... oh about a year in hell time so according to my math about ten years human time." Remedy's mouth hung open in shock at this news, how could her love compare to what Anna and Beetlejuice once shared? Annabelle noting the look of shock snorted softly "trust me it was not a happy relationship the whole time... sure things started happily but... he would cheat on me, belittle me, make me feel less than the fearsome demon I am." Annabelle's ears tilted in sadness as she spoke her ever-present smile faltering. "We broke up this last time because of the awful things he did. Now granted we are both demons but it doesn't excuse trying to coerce one young Lydia Deetz into marrying him! He didn't even want to marry me. He wasn't a good partner by any means. He's greedy and selfish, a slob, and frankly not the best lover, just like his patron demon Mammon." "You say young... how old is Lydia?" "She's 17 and human. Lawrence is very old, older than me even." Remedy shuddered that didn't sit right with her. "May we please change the subject? I've missed you so much. And I would prefer to not dwell on the past." "Of course, mon amour." Remedy blushed at the name causing Anna's cheerful demeanor to return. The unlikely couple walked to the couch that Annabelle had slept on the last time she was there and sat next to each other holding hands and smiling at one another. The women chatted for a while when Remedy had a fantastic idea "we should go for a walk in a local park, get out maybe grab some food and just go on a date together?" Annabelle eager to do anything with her human agreed "Remedy... I can't exactly go outside like this... I'd have to change a few things" "Why? You're perfect." "Amour, look at me I have ears and a tail" the demoness chuckled as it clicked for Remedy that not everyone would be ok with a seven-foot deer demon walking around  "I'll just wear my human disguise so I don't get in trouble with the demon royalty down below." "Human disguise?" "It's what demons wear when they have to come up to the surface for anything. We aren't supposed to be seen in our natural forms unless summoned" Remedy nodded that made sense to her, she wondered what Anna as a human even looked like, had she ever been human? She would have to ask Anna later. As Remedy pondered and contemplated what to ask Anna about her life before, Annabelle took the time to change her appearance. Her ears and tail were the first things to disappear, quickly followed by her ruby eyes, they were replaced by a shade of hazel one could only describe as sunshine through a glass of whiskey.  Her skin took on a more lively shade. And her teeth were the last noticeable thing to change no longer sharp like razors more dull and human. Remedy looked up and did a double take even human Annabelle was a gift from Lucifer himself. "Is this what you looked at when you were human?" "Partly, my hair wasn't as red it was a mousey brown color and my skin was darker. This is just as close as I can get to it anymore." "Either way you're so beautiful, truly a gift from Lucifer himself." Annabelle blushed "He would agree with you if we were on speaking terms at the moment." "You know him?!" "Yes... he's my patron. We can talk about this later we have a date to go on chérie" Remedy nodded grabbing her keys and purse before leading Anna out of the house to her car. She held the passenger door open for Annabelle, noticing that she hesitated Remedy explained  "this will get us to the park" "oh cars have changed so much in the years I've been down below! This is spectacular! Oh, Alastor would love this!" "Alastor?" "My Twin brother. He's my best friend, you'll meet him someday if you'd like" "I would like that very much." They drove happily making small talk and holding hands as they talked. Once they arrived at the park Annabelle took a second to look around, at the lush green trees and the beautiful flowers. The human world was more beautiful than she remembered, so much had changed in the time since she had passed. Remedy smiled and held out her hand to Annabelle, who immediately took it and pressed a kiss into the soft skin on top. The couple then walked with hands intertwined at a leisurely pace just enjoying the time they had together. Off in the distance, another couple could be seen. A tall man with blonde hair and a beard held hands with a smaller woman with platinum blonde hair with purple streaked through it, as they got closer Remedy waved with her free hand recognizing her friends. Annabelle was slightly wary of these newcomers noting the female was the same one she had seen leaving remedy's place not too long ago. "REM!" The smaller blonde detached from her counterpart and launched herself at Remedy with near-demonic speed, dislodging Annabelle with her impact as the two girls hugged in a fierce embrace. The blonde male walked up rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly, laughing "Dru you can't just tackle your friends while they are holding hands with someone. You could've seriously hurt both of them. Sorry about her. I'm David by the way" "Annabelle σκιά. Nice to make your acquaintance."  The smaller blonde, Dru, detached from a slightly flustered remedy "You're the girl Rem was telling me about! Oh my Satan you're so pretty! Remedy you didn't tell me you scored the hottest woman on earth! I'm Drusilla by the way, Dru for short" "Well I..." remedy shuffled awkwardly. Annabelle softly growled at Drusilla but cleared her throat forcing a smile on her face noting there was something not quite human with Drusilla and David. "We only met about a month ago, I just came back from a business trip, I couldn't stand being without her any longer." Annabelle placed her arm around remedy's waist ignoring the beautiful blush that was creeping up her girlfriend's neck. "That's so romantic! Kinda like David and me!" Drusilla skipped back to her lover throwing her arms around him her perfect hair swaying as she did, a flame of jealousy burned in Annabelle's stomach. Annabelle watched how Dru & David interacted with one another, they appeared to be a couple, so why did she feel this way? Remedy seemed to want just her; that should be enough.  "Let's all do a double date soon!" Drusilla grinned her teeth seeming too sharp to be human as she smiled at Annabelle. "Oh! yes, please that would be amazing! Don't you agree Annabelle?" Remedy looked up at the demoness who seemed to be seething in quiet rage. "Yes. Some other time." Annabelle's tone left little room for argument. Remedy shivered and bit her lip ring at that tone. Drusilla and David exchanged glances and grinned " Of course! Well, we have to go now, but we will set something up ok? Talk to you soon Rem!" The couple sped off, David tossing Dru over his shoulder and smacking her behind as they went. The sound of their laughter faded into the background of nature again. The couple alone again, Annabelle still partly seething though she could not understand why. Remedy looked at her girlfriend "Chérie, please tell me what's wrong" Annabelle thought for a moment "I apologize Mon Chéri, I don't know what came over me. It appears I am... what do you call it... Jalouse?" "Jealous? Of Drusilla? She's just a friend, I told you that earlier. Annabelle, I love you, not her." "Look me in the eyes right now and tell me you aren't attracted to her in the slightest." Remedy pouted at her partner "I can appreciate that she is pretty but I love you, I want to be with you." "Remedy, I know they aren't a threat to us, but something irrational in my mind was telling me that she would be better for you than me." "But you don't know her. She's engaged to David." Annabelle made a noise of indignation "They are Succubi & Incubi pair, by their nature they are not exclusive." Remedy blinked owlishly "How did you know that?" Annabelle gave her a 'Are you serious right now?' look before continuing to speak "I can recognize their demonic energy. No human moves that fast as Drusilla did." Remedy took a second to think about what Annabelle was saying. "But if you're saying that Dru and David aren't monogamous, what would make her better for me?" "I just, I don't trust them. I have had my fair share of run-ins with their kind" She growled her eyes flashing red before settling back on hazel. "Beetlejuice managed to hook up with a few succubi during our relationship and made it abundantly clear I wasn't as good as them." "When you were summoned to my home, I thought of the woman of my dreams and it was you who appeared, not Drusilla. I want you, I want to be with you." The human stood on her tiptoes and pressed a kiss to her partner's cheek "let's go get food and we can make dinner at home ok? maybe we can make something you liked growing up?" "Unless you like jambalaya, I would suggest maybe you do the cooking." 

~Small time skip to back at remedy's after dinner~

Remedy and Annabelle were curled up on the couch in the living room watching some movie that Annabelle didn't know. "What is this called again?" "Clue. Like the board game." Annabelle tilted her head confused, her big doe eyes showing confusion "what's a board game?" "I will show you that later for now let's just enjoy the movie" "Yes the picture show is quite fantastic! They have come such a long way since I last saw one. They are in color now!" Remedy giggled "How old are you, Anna?" "I died when I was 38. That was about oh... what year was FDR president?" Remedy choked on her beverage. "You look so young!" "Thank you, hell has great skin care," Annabelle smirked. "Like what? The blood of virgins?" Annabelle laughed darkly, Remedy made a nervous noise and curled up closer to Annabelle. "Relax Amour that was a joke, I only use the blood of the people who wronged me." Annabelle pulled Remedy into her lap and held her close listening to her heartbeat. "je t'aime tellement" "I Love you too, Anna. Why don't we go to bed?" "I can sleep on the couch again if you would like." "Oh no, you are sleeping in my room. I am absolutely getting my cuddles from my demon girlfriend." Annabelle smiled "Your wish is my command darling" She scooped Remedy into her arms bridal style and carried her to the bedroom.
