CHAPTER SEVEN - DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE
I was chatting with my family on Zoom, celebrating my mother's birthday that was coming next week on Friday and it was nice connecting with them. Because it was a month since talk to them without stressing about my work or babysitting Dusty also I was feeling lovely when I got no one to talk to no one. The conversation was lasting for almost three hours now and I don't think it will be over soon.
"It been wonderful talking to you guys again, I very miss this but sadly I think I had logged out of this reunion. But I will be back probably tomorrow morning at 6 or a little bit later." I told my family through the square screens that show their faces. "Peace out, fam."
When I finished waving goodbye to my family and they logged out from the video conferencing then I close my laptop and take a sip from the flask that I was drinking simply water. Later on, I was doing my workout routine while listening to the recent album from my favorite band of all time (don't Fight with Me) Matchbox Twenty, and the album is called Exile on Mainstream. I was doing a lot of push-ups, sit-ups, and many exercises with my core.
Then after fifteen minutes of workouts, someone was knocking at my door but it couldn't be Katie dropping Dusty off because it was a school day or my landlord Mr. Stone so I push myself off the floor to open the door. I use my right eye to look through the tiny hole in the middle of the door and I saw a light skin curly hair woman around my age or older. When I unlock the door from the inside and open it for her, immediately her smiling face changed into a confused one. She was wearing a trenchcoat that reach her ankles and a black t-shirt that has white text written on it [BROOKLYN] underneath the trenchcoat also she carried a bright pink purse on her shoulder.
"Oh crap. I think I got the wrong room." The girl said. "I am so sorry about that I am just looking for a friend."
"Okay. Does your friend have a friend? Because there are a lot of people on this floor that I met throughout my stay so you need to be more specific." I told her. "Because I can help you find the room that you are looking for."
"Yo, bestie!" The one who was shouting across the hallway was Katie stepping out of the elevator.
"I think you find your friend, ma'am."
Katie was speedwalking toward the lady to give her a hug and a smack on her ass. While I was just leaning at the door trying not to act weird when the girls were doing girl stuff that I don't understand like my sister and her friends doing a sleepover every weekend. Always, I slowly tried to close the door but Katie was already mentioned my name throughout the conversation that they were having so I got no chance to leave this solution. "By the way, this over here is my roommate Max. And Max this is my closest friend Samantha."
"But you can call me Sam if you want." Sam gives me a handshake and a wink. "Kate told me a lot about you and how well you take care of her son."
"Um, thanks.", I said to Sam. "I wish I can fully introduce but I got something I have to do so it was nice to me you, Sam."
