CHAPTER NINETEEN - SEXY LOVE
I had a fantastic time playing basketball this past Sunday morning with my friends Connor and Dusty. It was a relief to see both of them recover from the flu. We had an intense game, shooting hoops until one of us reached ten points. The score was close, with Connor and I tied at eight points and Dusty close behind with six. To add to the excitement, we had a special rule: if one of us made a basket, our points would double.
The weather took an unexpected turn as I clutched the ball, visualizing my victory and the chance to treat myself to something special for my upcoming Zoom date with Baby. Rain started pouring down, and as I attempted to make the winning shot, the ball slipped from my fingers, causing me to miss the net narrowly. "Darn! I was so close," I exclaimed with disappointment and amusement at the sudden change in weather.
Connor threw the ball straight at me, and I made a fantastic catch. We quickly returned to my place and settled in to watch the highly anticipated game between The Heat and The Lakers. I had prepared some delicious popcorn drizzled with melted butter to give it that perfect hint of sweetness. Connor and I were thoroughly engrossed as the game unfolded, cheering for our respective teams. Meanwhile, Dusty immersed himself in his favorite pastime, reading his beloved comic book, "The Amazing Spider-Man #252." I've come to accept Dusty's quirks, including his habit of rereading the same comic book repeatedly, and I've learned to let him embrace his unique personality around me.
Later, during the big game's halftime show, the TV screen was filled with flashy commercials and appearances by celebrities like Ben Affleck and Ryan Reynolds. As Michael Scott (Steve Carell) enthusiastically promoted his upcoming movie, I headed to the kitchen to grab ice-cold drinks from the fridge and a sweet treat for my friend Dusty. While in the kitchen, Connor greeted me with a friendly "Yo, Max," and we exchanged a quick handshake. "Has your girl messaged you back yet?" he asked, referring to a previous conversation about an important text message.
Since Baby left on her trip to visit her parents a few weeks ago, I've noticed that she hasn't responded to any of my messages or our FaceTime calls. I attempted to email her, but she hasn't even seen it. "No, she still hasn't sent me a text, but I don't think she's intentionally ignoring me because we have a Zoom date planned for tonight," I informed Connor as I handed him some cold drinks.
"A Zoom date? What the fuck is that?"
"Just a heads up, Dusty is still around, so watch what you say. I don't want his mom to catch him repeating stuff we discussed, especially curse words. Last time I slipped up with a bad word while Dusty was in my room, Katie grounded him, and I felt horrible for him."
"Sorry, dude, I keep forgetting. But seriously, Baby ghosted you because she cheated on you with some guy who's hotter than you." Connor keeps saying that, but I can't believe it. I know Baby wouldn't do that to me. "You gotta move on, man. She's over you," he keeps saying.
