That One Race - Brian O'Connor / Ruby Ortiz

The Aftermath.

I woke up to the noise of cold start of many cars surrounding where I slept, I looked around the trailer seeing nobody, well actually I wasn't alone, Brian was snoring on the floor.

I grabbed my clothes and walked over to the bathroom, I locked the door and changed, Then I headed outside, Mia was standing right outside of the door with Leon by her side, while Dom, Vince, Letty and Jesse, were all outside starting their cars, I joined the crew but I knew how my Mustang had power and would start quick.
I started it before Dom and Letty started their cars and I just woke up less than 5 minutes ago.

"How the f-"

"Ford" I interrupt

I got out of the car and walked inside, well, I wasn't paying much attention, i accidentally ran into Brian, looking up to his face as it pasted a smirk on it, i stuttered something and ran out the way.

I was still scared of Brian, I haven't touched a man in a few years now and I'm quite sure i wouldn't enjoy it.

"I'm sorry" He muttered

I still walked away, I closed the door and layed down, I was quite tired and I knew how long my car takes while I started it to it turning off

"Ruby, wake up!" Dom yelled, though the trailer

"Seriously Dom! I'm tired man"

"Unfortunately the Supra can't start, Brian riding with you!" He replied back

"NOOO!!" I scream

"Mia! Come here!" Dom said

Mia ran into the trailer, I could hear her, and she knew my problem with Brian, how scared I was to be around him

"Hey, it's gonna be okay! I'll get Brian to drive my Acura and I'll ride with you, I'm sorry, Dom doesn't really understand what abused women go through, come on!" She assured

I got up, slowly making my way towards the door where I noticed Brian stood, I just jumped out and ran to my car not even looking at him.
I had opened my window for fresh air and overheard Mia and Brian's conversation,

"I don't understand your car Mia, I shouldn't drive it!" Brian argued

"I understand that someone in our crew can't stand you, and I want them to be comfortable"

"So what? Plus I have an idea that she's faking it!" Brian argued back,

Those last few words I hear out of Brian's mouth brought me to tears, I was trying not to cry but I couldn't help it,

"Kid, you okay?" Vince asked

"I'm f-fine Vince" I stutter, sniffling

"Was it blondie? I'll beat him up for you!" Vince joked

"Please don't!" I reply

He left me and I rolled my window back up I was upset, Brian O'Connor the new kid made me upset

The car door opened, someone got into it, with my blurry vision, I could barely got a good glimpse of whoever got into my car, but once I had figured it out, i jumped, I didn't think that Brian had got into my car but I was wrong.

"Hey, it's gonna be okay" He assured

"I'm sorry Brian, I really am!" I reply with a stutter

"Just Drive, pretend I'm not here"

"Wow, you really think that?" I asked a laugh

"Asshole" I mutter, silently.

"I heard that"

As I talked, I got a bit more comfortable, I'm still not sure about him, He also had bad odor, he stunk my car up quickly and we just got out of the place

"You stink!"

"I'm a male figure, we always sweat and smell quite bad everyday, but I'll take that as a compliment Jr" Brian joked, but I really didn't take it as a joke,

"uh okay" I mumble

I just drove knowing he was there, once I got home, I parked I looked slightly at Brian and he looked shocked

"Surprised by my driving boy?" I laugh, softly

I ran to the house and ran to my bedroom, leaping on my bed once I got there and it didn't end well, unfortunately Brian had walked down not knowing that this was my bedroom, I jumped when I felt someone sit on my bed, I scrambled away once I figured it was Brian,

"The hell you doing here!" I yell

"Dom said I'd be staying in the basement, I didn't know this was your room"

"Please leave!"

"You annoyed by me?"

I just ignore him, watching every single movement this guy does, and then he sit on my bed,

"Look Ruby, I'm just gonna go all out and say this, I Love You" he blurts out,

"I know your past from Mia. It hurts me to see you so afraid of me. Trust me, I’m not a monster. I would never hurt you. Please calm down and breathe," Brian said,

I take in his hand slowly, my hands shake, as he shows a slow breathing exercise, 'In....Out... In....Out...'

I follow that, and my heartrate goes down quick, well not quick but you know what I mean, he gets me to look into his eyes, I struggle with eye contact, but I try to look in his eyes,

"Ruby Ortiz" he says,

I nod in reply,

"Look at me godammit, your eyes are beautiful, your beautiful, I love you, now repeat after me!" He begins,

"I-I love you" I mumble,

I wouldn't expect to be saying the words 'I Love You' to anyone except parents or close friends or close friends who are like family,

While I look in his eyes my body shook, each breath I took the more I shook,

"I'm gonna leave now, remember that exercise, remember, In....Out..."

He walked away and I stayed in my bed thinking for a minute, what if he isn't the same, what if he actually appreciates me or can help me,

"Brian, can you come back?"

"What?"

He stands in my door,

"I think we should hangout and get to know each other better, come to my Mustang we'll take a drive!" I say,
