the smell of Butters

Poor Eric. Nobody wanted to be his partner so he was paired with Butters, that one skinny blonde kid nobody really hangs out with. "Eric... hold Butters's hand!" Mr. Garrison ordered. "No! That fucking gay!!" Eric yelled. Butters managed to get a hold of Eric's hand before he ran off. "Butters. Do. Not. Let. Go. Of his hand until you get back on that bus!" Told Mr. Garrison. Butters quickly nodded in response. Eric and Butters holding hands for a whole day was one of Eric's worst memories with Butters. Cartman will never forget that day at South Park's Pioneer Village.

It was the start of school when Mr. Garrison quickly announced the upcoming science project. "Okay, students. Get yourselves into groups of two to three people for the upcoming science project about friendship or something like that! For some stupi- ah! J- just get yourself into groups by the end of today!!"

"Dude, are you serious?! Another science project!" Cartman scoffed to himself. He looked around the classroom to find someone smart enough to do the project for him but someone who wasn't an annoying piece of shit. For Cartman, everyone was an annoying piece of shit. So he had trouble finding the least annoying person in the room. Most people had already found a partner, giving each other a look of confirmation. Stan was with Kyle, Craig was with Tweek and Kenny was with Bebe. For some odd reason, Kenny and Bebe had gotten to know each other better over the past few months. Cartman was sure they were dating. But Kenny would have told them by now, so Cartman was still a bit confused.

The final lesson of the day.

"Alright children! You should have gotten yourselves into groups by now, but for anyone who was dumb enough to not be able to find a partner, they can come over here!" Mr. Garrison said to the class. Eric, who did not give fuck about the science project, stood up and walked up to the front next to Mr. Garrison. Cartman looked around the classroom to see if anyone else was walking up to the front. Seconds later, a slim figure with short messy blonde hair squeezed himself through the groups and made his way up to the front. Butters. Before Eric could complain Mr. Garrison said. "Okay, perfect! Eric with Butters! Now sit down and wait for school to end!"

Cartman looks around the room to see if anybody, anybody, needed a partner. Nobody. Cartman knew that he would have to be stuck with Butters for the next three weeks. EVERY. DAY.

Hanging out with Butters was like torture to Cartman. Butters was so overly polite and he refuses to play games with Cartman when doing something important (like homework). These things Butters does annoy Cartman greatly. Butters is a 'goodie two shoes' according to Cartman. As Cartman turns to look at Butters he swore he saw Kenny giving Cartman a death stare from across the room. Cartman ignored him and began talking to Butters, who had been waiting for Eric to start a conversation between the two. "Let's do the project in my house. Your house is like... super boring" Cartman had only said this because he knew Butters didn't like being in his own house half the time. Butters often disappoints his father and gets yelled at. So he likes to spend as much time out of his own house as he possibly can. Cartman couldn't blame him, his parents are kinda messed up in the head. "That would be great! Thanks, Eric!" Butters cheered gleefully. The end-of-school bell went off and Cartman made his way out of the classroom and into the hallways just about ready to leave. Until Butters interrupted him. "O-oh! And Eric! When should I come over?" Butters asked. Cartman continued walking."Can we try to do it later today, I just want this to be over with." Cartman sighed as they got to the school exit. "O-okay! Well, see you later Eric!" Butters walked off. "Ugh... Finally! I thought he'd never leave." Cartman sighed under his breath as Butters got further away. Just then he felt someone staring at him, before he could turn around to flip them off, they began to speak in a muffled voice. "Don't be such a bitch all the time dude." It was Kenny. Cartman turned around, shocked to hear Kenny sound that serious. Kenny looked like he would snap at Cartman if he said anything. Cartman didn't care though. "Yeah. Yeah. I can barely hear you with that coat on so fuck off." Cartman scoffed looking at Kenny. Kenny's fists tightened but instead of punching him, he walked away silently. "Poor kids these days..." Cartman thought to himself as he waited for the bus to arrive.

At Cartman's house

Cartman had been waiting for Butters for an hour now. Even though Cartman didn't want to see Butters or want to do the project but he was starting to get concerned. Moments later Eric heard a light knock on the door. His mother wasn't home so he got off the couch and opened the door. Only to find a bruised-up Butters on his doorstep. "What the hell happened to you!?" Cartman asked concerned. He tried to hide his concern but it hardly worked. Eric saw the condition Butters was in and quickly took him inside. The only words Butters could manage to muster were "Dad.... G- grounded."

"Of course, it was his dad..." Cartman thought. Eric tugged Butters and led him upstairs to his room so that he could get some rest. For almost the first time ever Cartman was showing some empathy and it was towards a person he didn't like all that much, but to be honest he doesn't like anyone that much. "Why should I care about him!?" Cartman thought. He shook the thought out of his head before theories could start forming in his mind. He ran downstairs to go get a glass of water for Butters. Eric came back to find Butters asleep on his bed. As much as he was pissed at Butters for sleeping on his bed, Eric just left him there and got on with the project. "He owes me for this" Cartman thought to himself.

Eric had been working on the project for 30 minutes. Eric easily gave up on doing the project. Butters was still on Eric's bed resting. Eric felt hungry so he went downstairs to go get some food from the fridge. He opened the fridge and grabbed some leftover 'Snacky Cakes', which were his favorite food, and walked into the living room to eat his food. He sat down on the couch and ate the remainder of his food, whilst watching Phillip and Terrance on the TV. Another 30 minutes went by and that was when Eric heard a tired voice coming from behind him. "E-Eric?" Butters had woken up. Eric got up from the couch to see if Butters's condition had gotten better, and it had! Butters looked better than before. "Just know that I had to do part of the project myself. So you owe me!" Cartman argued. "T-thanks Eric... For h-helping me! I'll work on it now!" Butters thanked. "Yeah. Yeah. Whatever." Cartman yawned. "I'm going to go sleep now..." Cartman added. "Okay! Night Eric!" Butters said, waving at Eric as he walked up the stairs. When Eric entered his room he saw an empty cup on his nightstand. Eric smiled knowing that Butters was staying hydrated. He got into bed and threw the covers over his shoulders up to his nose. Eric took a deep breath and noticed that his bed smelt different. It was a nice smell. His mood immediately changed when he realised Butters was sleeping in his bed just a few moments ago. "Aw! Dude sick! Ew!" Cartman sneered. Instead of changing his blanket something inside him stopped him. The smell comforted him. Soon he drifted off to sleep. The smell of Butters.
