MalibuI sat down on the couch in Counselor Taff's office before changing positions and laying down. I took a deep breath and pulled off my graduation cap resting it on my stomach, "I can't believe I fucking did it."
"Why not?" Taff as usual was in his chair with his notebook and cane resting besides him. I didn't even have to look at him to know his expression, "You came a long way Ms. Jones, and you've claimed your reward believe you fucking did it."
I laughed as tears welled in my eyes, making the grainy ceiling look like waves. I sniffed, "I thought death was my only escape from cigarettes, the only way I'd stop."
There was a still silence and I turned my head to look at him. He was smiling widely, "Doesn't it feel nice to prove yourself wrong, and do it despite it all?"
I sat up and looked down at my robe, "Yeah it does." In less than an hour I was going to walk the stage. Something I should've done years ago, but it feels like I'm right on time. "It feels incredible."
"All seniors please report to the auditorium."
Taff closed his notebook and clapped his hands, "Go claim a piece of your future Ms. Jones, you deserve it." I stood up and he did after me, walking to the door of his office together, "I forgot one thing I'll meet you."
I opened the door and took a couple steps out before coming to a complete stop, "You did not."
There with flowers and his graduation gown was Tristian, "Congratulations on finishing counseling." He smiled and I melted, my lips quivering not knowing whether to smile or cry. He pulled me into him and kissed me, "I'm so proud you Malibu Jones."
"You're too good for me Tristian Myers." He kissed me again with a handful of my ass pressing me into him. I pulled away with my face bright red and my chest feeling full, "We're still in school Tristian."
A door closed behind me and Counselor Taff warned, "And late for your own graduation if you guys don't get a move on and stop kissing in the hallways."
Tristian chuckled, "You were young once too Taff."
Counselor Taff raised his cane, "Your girlfriend is no longer in my care and you're graduating, don't tempt me to finally knock some sense into you quarterback."
I giggled and put my arm around Tristian, "No need Counselor Taff, he's walking and keeping his mouth shut." I grinned and nudged Tristian walking off, "He's the nicest person ever, stop bothering the man."
"You're an outsider looking in, you wouldn't get our connection Mal." I rolled my eyes and he kissed my forehead, "I love you baby."
My heart picked up its pace at his words, even though he's said it a million times before. I licked my lips my throat feeling chapped from the internal heat inside of me. I squeezed his side, "I love you more Tristian."

I packed the last box in Summer's trunk and did a dramatic weep, "How could I ever go on without you!" Summer pulled me into a hug, "Don't leave!"
She broke down for the tenth time on my shoulder, "Malibu seriously you're an asshole." I rubbed her back and she held me tighter, "I don't want to leave."
"You got her started again?" Tristian came over with a couple items sliding them into a free space. He put his hands on his hips squinting at the sun, "We'll come visit Summer, you're right up the road."
She sobbed and yelled against my shoulder, "Fourteen hours away is not right up the road Tristian!" She pulled back and wiped her face, "Not even close." She broke down and pulled us to her, "I love you guys."
