I stumbled a little bit, and felt someone else knock into me. Or did I knock into them?
"SUMMER! KNOCK IT OFF!" Rosalind shrieks next to me as she tumbles into the next person.
Suddenly, the light recedes, leaving me blinking away the spots dotting my vision. Glancing around, I realized that, in fact, I had bumped into Rosalind, whose glasses were perched dangerously on her ears.
Jace, or Boss J, pulled back the door separating the machine, and stepped out of it. Pulling the cloth away, I cautiously peeked my head out, to find the same janitors' closet with the same things dangling over cabinets and balanced against walls.
"Does..." I started, stepping out. "Does that thing even work? Cuz we're still in the same spot."
Jace ran a hand through his white blond hair and shrugged. "Yeah, it worked."
Rosalind and Isabelle rushed out, and Rosalind squinted around before throwing her glasses back on. "Oh yeah, this is a different universe for sure."
Jace smiled a little. (Wow, Jace can actually smile?) "Great job. If I'm not mistaken-"
Isabelle mumbled something that sounded suspiciously like "You usually are mistaken" causing Jace to glare at her.
Clearing his throat, Jace continued. "As I was saying, before I was rudely interrupted, this is another universe, and..."
Exactly at that time, a boy rushed into the closet, and closed the door behind him. Jace cursed under his breath, then rushed everyone into the closet. Isabelle stumbled in, and I got pushed in by Rosalind, who stumbled after me after a quick and efficient shove from Jace.
Jace rushed in after us, and pulled the curtain shut behind us. Rosalind plopped down on the ground, nursing her ankle. "What was that Jace?! I think you just made me sprain my ankle!!" Rosalind complained, prodding her ankle.
Kneeling down, Jace twisted it, causing a loud shriek of pain that Isabelle and I quickly smothered. Raising an eyebrow, Jace stood up again. "You'll be fine. It's barely anything-it'll go away in 20 minutes."
Rosalind whipped our hands off her mouth. "We don't have twenty minutes you doofus!!"
Isabelle slowly backed away, not wanting to see the rest of this show. Raising my hand slowly, I interrupted. "Guys, who was that boy? He looked familiar..."
Jace sighed a little. "That was Liam. Liam Monroe, and I don't think that right now's a good time to go out asking him your questions."
I peeked out, and realized the mousy-brown haired boy. Liam Monroe with his twinkly eyes was standing in the janitors' closet, looking around for something, seemingly unknown to the large machine sitting in the middle of the closet. Rosalind knocked her glasses back onto her eyes and adjusted to the clear world while Isabelle crossed her arms in front of her chest and Jace looked through his backpack.
A sudden poke in my side made me startled, and Rosalind threw her hand over my mouth. "It's just me, you idiot!" she whispered, "He left like 5 minutes ago, and Jace is still looking through his backpack for who-knows-what!"
Jerking her hand off of my mouth I whispered back, "One, you're definitely the idiot here, two, why are we still whispering, and three, yes I realized, Jace is still looking through his backpack."
Jace looked up, and held up radios. "I was trying to find four, but, unfortunately, there's only two."
Rosalind grabbed one immediately and stood up to her full height, a few inches shorter than the rest. "What's the job?"
Jace pulled out a notebook, and skimmed over the long list of alternate universes we could've ended up in, and crossed off ones such as "nuclear explosions universe" and "unicorns and rainbows universe", whatever those were.
"We're going to split into two groups-one, figure out which universe we're in, don't want to-"
"-become a sparkly vampire?" Rosalind blinked innocently. "I still want to know if you glitter in the sun."
Jace rolled his eyes. "We live in California. You have eyes, do you think I glitter in the sun?"
Sighing, Rosalind rolled out a map of our school. "Considering the fact that we are still in a janitors' closet, we can assume the fact that this is one of the more closely related universes there are. If we're going to stay in here for a bit, we're going to need to find the 'us' that there is in this universe, that is, the Summer, Rosalind, Isabelle, and Jace in here. From there, we can either 1. Merge with them, and continue the mission like that until we travel again, in which we can sever the connection, or 2. find a way to keep them somewhere else as we walk around like them. Plan A is to merge with them, but the connection is sometimes impossible to join together, therefore, Plan B will be to keep them somewhere else. The team who figures out which universe we're in will have to keep," here she tapped the map, "to mark any parts different from the universe we come from, and the list of universes. This may be a new one, so that team has to be cautious when working. Team two will consist of helping Summer with finding Liam Monroe and asking him questions and unraveling the mystery of his death, and get answers. Any questions?" She paused.
I furrowed my eyebrow. "Sorry, I spaced out a little. What did you say?"
Opening her mouth again, Rosalind started. "Considering the fact that we-"
Isabelle cut through it. "What she's saying is that first we have to find the 'us' in this universe, merge with them or hide them, and then split up to find out which universe we're in and help you with finding the answers and questions."
Rosalind frowned. "I'm pretty sure I said something longer than that."
Isabelle knocked her shoulder. "It's called paraphrasing you idiot."
Jace rolled his eyes and stuffed the other radio into Isabelle's hand. "Let's get going. We don't want to get exposed just yet, so finding the split part of us is crucial to this mission."
Hey lovelies!
So...I just wanted to state that I have serious writers block, and Experiment 101 seems to be taking the toll. I will still be publishing some parts, and I hope to have some Theodore POV up soon.
