Arthur Leywin
Things had progressed relatively the same as they had in my past life. The only notable change being I had subtly been training my father to try and increase his strength. It was easy to make suggestions to my father's fighting style in a way that wasn't suspicious by acting like a child. I would say something along the lines of "Dad, wouldn't it be cooler if you did it like - whoosh - and then - bang - instead?"
Ehem... my strange onomatopoeias aside, I would act out certain actions to try and show my father a more ideal fighting style. Actually, I had mostly utilized what I remembered from his fighting style from the future. Despite how goofy my father could be at times, he was actually a very capable fighter. He might even be considered a genius by some. Before his death, my father had reached the solid yellow core stage and had been a B rank adventurer, an achievement that not just anyone could achieve. Still, it hadn't and wouldn't be enough.
Another thing that had changed from my former life was my second core. The small, purple core orbited my mana core, but I couldn't pull any aether from it. There was a small amount contained within it - I could sense it - but I couldn't pull from it. It was like it was being absorbed back into itself. There was something else there as well, something I couldn't look at and couldn't interact with. Something foreign, yet familiar as well.
It wasn't harmful as far as I could tell, but that didn't mean I could rest easy. I would have to pay close attention to it until I could learn more about it.
"Arthur honey, stop picking at your food. Even if you don't like peas, you need to eat them." My mother voiced out at the dining table, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Sorry mama." I said, once again continuing to eat. I looked at her as I ate my food. It was weird to see her so young again. She was only a couple of years older then I had been when I died. Taking into account all three of my lives, I had lived about three times as many years as her. Remembering the time I had revealed everything to her in my past life, guilt washed over me.
There had been times when I was tempted to tell my family about my previous life, or even both of my lives. But I had hesitated every time. Could they handle all the information I wanted to tell them? What good would it do? In the end, I decided I would tell them before the war like I had in the past life.
"Alice, I think we need to get Arthur a proper teacher in magic." My father said, not meeting my mother's eyes.
I almost laughed as a scene from my previous life broke out, my parent's enacting a small scale war at our dinner table over my future.
Before the fight could break out too much, I asked in the cutest voice I could, "Can't mama and papa just come with me to meet my teacher, and then decide?"
And like that, the fighting ended as my parents prepared for the journey. Luckily, my father had voiced his suggestion at the same time as he had in my previous life. I was worried that since I had awakened earlier he would have come to the conclusion that he couldn't teach me anything earlier, but I had been careful to regulate what I showed him.
Just like in my past life, I needed to travel with my parent's part of the way to Xyrus city before falling and meeting her.
'Sylvia, this time I will save you. I promise.'
I laid in bed, looking through a book I had practically already memorized with the current knowledge on mana manipulation theory . I had to keep my powers in check to a degree to avoid attracting too much attention in this life, and since it had been so long since I had utilized mana I wanted to make sure I didn't do too much.
