Dear mom and dad,
Today is my last day before I return home. I missed you both so much. Hope sis is doing alright. I hope to see you as soon as possible, if I can last through today. If I die today, just know that I love you all so much. Afghanistan is terrible, bodies and blood are there wherever you go. Men are dying every second, some right beside you. Hope I can make it home and see you both again.
Your loving son,
Ace

The joy of going home filled my mind, but the "what if's" of dying also filled half my mind. Sorry about the late introduction. Had to write to my parents first. My name is Ace. Ace Jockies to be exact. I really wonder how my parents are doing? Especially my mom, she was sick with Breast cancer before I came here for war. Me, you ask? I'm doing quite fine. I'm 15 years old and I have one younger sister and 2 older brothers. My 2 brothers are serving in a war near the Philippines. Wonder if their still alive. Hope they are. It's just a bit terrifying here. Hope it's not as terrifying near the Philippines. I want to go back home. I want to go see my best friend. He's leaving to war in a couple a week's. Pray for me that he survives. His name is Eldon Prestley. I live in a small town called Aliceville. It is located in the state Alabama. Eldon also lives there. 2 houses away from mine. Before I can go on further in this book, let me tell you a little about myself. I'm born on 03/24/2749. I love to read, and especially write. That's why I'm writing this one, where I tell you what happened before my return home. And a this is in Afghanistan.
