~One week after party~
I woke up to the sound of the alarm clock buzzing. I groaned and hit the off switch, rolling over I practically fell out of bed. I yelped, grabbed the bed and pulled myself toward the middle. After laying there for about five minutes I knew I had to get up. I swung my legs over the side of the bed, my feet hitting the cold wooden floor. Still half asleep I walked to the bathroom and brushed me teeth and hair, went back into my room and got dressed. Running down the stairs I had my brush in one hand and my bag in the other. I went to the kitchen, which was only a few feet from the stairs I put my brush down and grabbed a pop tart, ran out the door and made it to the bus stop just as the bus approached, I let out I sigh of relief when I saw an empty seat in the back. Sadly, I wasn't alone long because at the next stop Chance got on at the next stop and sat next to me. Don't get me wrong he's cool and all, but sometimes people just want to be alone and I don't think he understands that. I didn't really talk to him until he turned to me and questioned, "Are you mad at me?" I replied quickly, "No, it's not that." He had a look on his face that I can't quite describe but said a little harshly, "Then what is it because it seems like you've been avoiding me since Wednesday." I opened my mouth a little then closed it because I wasn't quite sure what to say yet. He let out a humph and moved up to the front next to a pretty, popular girl who automatically started flirting with him. I knew I had a bitch face going on because when I got to my locker Kim said, "You look like you're in a lovely mood this morning." I replied in a sarcastic tone, "Oh yes, I'm just a ray of sunshine." She put on a serious face and asked, "Okay, what's wrong?" I replied, "Long story short, Chance is an ass." Kim's eyes got big and she yelled, "Tell me everything!" I shushed her and said, "I'll explain everything during lunch, I promise." The warning bell rang and I hurried off to my first class, math. Great I have to see him again.I got to class just as the class bell rang, I was about to go to my normal seat next to him, but another pretty girl was sitting there playing with his hair. I rolled my eyes and sat on the opposite side of the room. That class couldn't have gone any slower, when we finally got to leave I was sprinting out the door.
I was so focused on thinking of ways to get back at Chance that I hadn't noticed Nick walking towards me, I found out when he almost slammed me into a locker, he snickered and said , "Watch where you're going, you have glasses for a reason." I sighed turned to him and replied in front of everyone, "You know what, I may have glasses but I also treat people the way they should be treated." He growled under his breath and came close to me and whispered, "No one cares what a nobody like you has, they care about what you don't have, popularity. Don't you understand no one cares about you, even Chance left you." I was choking back tears, trying so hard to not let him see me cry. I turned away from him and as calmly as I could I made my way to the bathroom, once there I let everything out, I texted Paige and told her to meet me there. When she was with me I told her everything that had happened. She stood for a moment processing everything I told her but then hugged me so tight I couldn't breathe. Once she let go I told her my plan, "I'm going to fake being sick and go home. I might even work on that stupid project. I just don't want to be here anymore." When I said "here" I motioned to the space around us. She nodded her head in agreement but had a sad expression. We left the bathroom and she walked me to the nurse so she could get a pass to go to her class, I waited patiently for my mom to get me. Once we were in the car she left it off and asked in a serious tone, "What's wrong, I know you're not sick. I know what you look like when you really don't feel good." I shrugged and replied, "Mom I really don't feel good, my head is killing me. Plus you know how much I love school so for me to leave is just proof that I feel dead." She sighed and started the car.The ride home was silent, only the radio playing faintly could be heard. We got home and I went upstairs. After about twenty minutes of laying in bed I got up took a shower then a long hot bubble bath, it was so relaxing that I could sleep, as a matter of fact I did. And it was great. I woke up when my mom started pounding on the door, while yelling, "Cassandra get your butt out of the bath dinners ready!" I got out dried off, went into my room and put on pajamas. I got downstairs just as my mom put my plate on the table she warned, "Be careful the plates hot." I wasn't very hungry so I barely ate anything. It was only half past six in the evening and I was already ready for the day to be over. I went up to my room, grabbed my laptop and watched YouTube till I crashed.
