The dinner went well, though we were cocooned in the nutshell that we created for ourselves the entire time. That meant me doodling on my phone, busy dissecting Martin's every status post in Facebook like a student during Chemistry class. Albert on other hand was holding the edge of the table every time his favorite team scores. Most of the guys inside the restaurant were doing the same thing so I was actually the one who was left out but who cares?
When suddenly I heard cheers from the guys telling me that their team won, I knew that it was time to go. I was right, Albert signaled the waiter for the bill then looked at my side beaming like a guy who just won a poker game.
"So, it looks like your team won? You wanna pay the bill?" I smiled, wiggling the eyebrows.
Albert's beaming face turned into a scowl. I was suddenly the one holding the edge of the table for making those remarks.
"What the fuck? I paid for the last time. It's your turn." He said.
Right on time, the waiter came with the bill and handed it to Albert. He took the bill and shoved it to me.
"Your turn!" He glowered.
"Ok fine, whatever!" I groaned and pulled out my wallet.
When we got home, my initial plan was to lay on my bed and pull out my new Anne Rice book that I purchased on Amazon. I wanted to read the entire night and probably daydream about Martin. But Albert was still pumped up from the basketball game at the restaurant and he was in the mood to play videogames. I wanted to lock myself in but Albert was relentless. I was shocked that Albert didn't have a plan for a Saturday night gimmick with his cool friends and he just wanted to stay at home and play video games with the closeted cool guy named Ice, what I meant was me. What the heck! We haven't been spending time lately because of work and probably this was one of those nights where we could just be a good pal and enjoyed each other's company just like old times. I said yes and we played the entire night until he dragged me to the bedroom to sleep.
The next day, I woke up late and when I glanced at Albert's bed I found it empty. I reached for my phone on the nightstand and checked for the time, it was 8:30 AM. I cursed myself for over-sleeping. Then I noticed 2 text messages, the other one came from Albert telling me that he went out to the gym while the other one was from an unknown number. The message just said "hi" so I replied "hello" and asked who it was.
The unknown number responded right away telling me that it was Martin. My heart thumped and I suddenly became awake. This gets better, I thought, good morning to me.
I asked him where he got my number which I probably had a hint about who gave it to him and he just confirmed it in a quick response that it was indeed Mitch. I smiled and I couldn't stop giggling like a high-school girl watching One Direction videos on YouTube. I even forgot that I haven't eaten breakfast yet until my stomach grumbled. So I stood up and went to the kitchen to get something to eat.
I got myself cereal and coffee for breakfast. I thought of making myself an omelet but I shrugged off the idea because I really didn't want to cook. I rather had food that was easy to prepare and that didn't involve cooking because it wasn't my strong attribute.
Martin and I exchanged text messages and I almost forgot what time it was. It was crazy how time flies when you're not paying attention and I was having a great time texting Martin. I sunk in the sofa giggling, laughing, lying on my back, sitting up and smiling like an idiot. It was fun. Until Martin asked me if we could have lunch together. I stared at the message and didn't send a response just yet. I was nervous. But then as if a butterfly wings flapping in my stomach made me want to throw up. I wasn't sure if I was excited or it was my anxiety getting ahead of me. But I said fuck it! I texted back and said yes.
