it's finally time for sunoo's first shift at the clinic in a long time. he hasn't been able to volunteer at the clinic due to his busy schedules, but he has finally decided that a full resume is more important than adding two more hours of sleep to his already messed-up sleep schedule. he's not going to sleep anyway, so why not gain some experience while he's at it?

so far, his shift has been extremely boring. he did nothing for half of his shift because apparently, students at his school don't get sick? but sunoo knows it's because no one has time to go to the clinic when they're buried in exams and activities all the time.

sunoo taps his pen on the desk, trying to relieve his boredom. he would study for his exams, but the nurse in charge of him is terrifying, and he doesn't want her to think he's slacking off. so he pretends to be doing paperwork while doodling in his notebook.

"um hello?" sunoo bolts up from his seat, standing up to greet his first "patient" of the day, "oh hello!" he bows, not even looking at the person. his jaw almost drops as he looks up.

sunghoon? park sunghoon, the archery team's best player? he's going to be the first person i help today? OH GOD. sunoo thinks, he's definitely not ready for this and the cold aura of sunghoon doesn't help either.

sunoo didn't even notice he was already staring off into space; sunghoon had to call his attention to get him to stop. "i apologize for that; what brings you here?"

"ah. today is our yearly health exam, and i need to have my blood drawn. is the attending nurse here?" sunghoon inquires, his gaze fixed on sunoo's.

sunoo couldn't help but look elsewhere; he has no idea why he is so shy around sunghoon. it's not like he thinks the latter is attractive, mysterious, or totally cool. absolutely not.

"right. let me call her right now, please wait a second and take a seat right here," sunoo says as he pats the seat in front of his desk and smiles at sunghoon, who nods and sits down.

he frantically searches for the attending nurse, but she is nowhere to be found. sunoo calls her, worried and anxious.

"hello nurse? there's an athlete from the archery team who needs their blood drawn, where are you right now?" sunoo asks politely, his voice as sweet as candy so as not to irritate the attending nurse.

"oh gosh, um, can you do that for me? you already learned phlebotomy, right? i have an important meeting right now and i can't leave," she says as she hangs up the phone.

sunoo's heart almost falls out of his ass, what does she mean?! his panic levels rise, and he has no idea what to tell sunghoon, who is still waiting at the front desk.

after a minute, he gathers himself and walks over to sunghoon, as if nothing is wrong.

"well, our attending nurse is unfortunately in a very important meeting right now. you may come back to have your blood drawn by her or..." sunoo pauses, unsure whether the person in front of him will laugh or be angry at what he's about to say.

sunghoon looks at him, puzzled as to why he suddenly freezes in front of him, "or what?" sunoo gulps and flashes an awkward smile, "well. the attending nurse said i could draw your blood, but you see, i'm still a student nurse, and you might find it uncomfortable if i do it and it's completely under—"

"sure, you can practice on me," sunghoon says coolly, making sunoo's heart skip a beat and his stomach churn with butterflies. he can't believe a stranger would let him practice phlebotomy on him right then and there, especially when the stranger is the hottest guy he's ever met.

sunoo laughs awkwardly, "are you sure? i might mess up, you know, and who knows, you might report me or something," he says nervously, which amuses sunghoon.

sunoo's flushed cheeks can be seen clearly even though he's wearing a mask, and it's cute, sunghoon can't lie.

"it's okay, I've always wondered what it's like to have a student nurse practice on me, this could be my chance to find out," he smirks, and sunoo's face flushes even more.

"um— alright, i will go get the needles and stuff" sunoo walks away in a rush and sunghoon could only look at his back as the pink haired cutie scrambles looking for the phlebotomy kit, making the smile on his face even bigger.

"don't sue me okay, you agreed to let me practice doing this to you," sunoo practically begs sunghoon, who can only stifle a smile and nod.

when sunoo touches sunghoon's arm to look for a vein, an electric wave runs through his body. sunghoon is no expert, but he is certain that there is something about sunoo that makes him feel this way.

"ouch, that hurts!" sunghoon snaps back to reality when sunoo incorrectly inserts the needle into his skin. sunoo strokes his hands as if consoling a baby in a reflex, and he looks at sunghoon with puppy eyes.

"oh my gosh i'm so sorry, we only learned how to do shots this month!" sunoo almost whines, and sunghoon's heart beats a little faster, and he gives sunoo a small smile, "its okay, you can continue now."

sunoo finally gets it right on the second try. the smile that formed on his face when he successfully draws sunghoon's blood was adorable and not at all menacing to look at. sunghoon almost wants to pinch his cheeks, but he can't and stops himself.

"well! sunghoon, you can expect your results in a week or so! thank you for letting me practice on you, i finally did it on a stranger!" sunoo expresses his gratitude to sunghoon and bows profusely.

sunoo becomes flustered as sunghoon laughs a little. he couldn't help but notice how appealing and addicting sunghoon's laugh is. he didn't even realize he was zoning out again until sunghoon waved his hand in front of his face.

"it's no problem, thanks for drawing my blood for me. it's amazing you can do that and you're still a student. anyways, gotta go. see you soon?" sunghoon waves goodbye to sunoo and exits the clinic, not before giving him one last smile.

sunoo cups his face, it's completely hot, and he's certain his face is red. sunghoon is making him feel things, and he's not sure if that's a good thing.
