You were told that come your 15th birthday you were to meet your future husband. As a small child you were curious and almost excited, but now older realize this wasn't a fairytale wedding. It was to continue a line of powerful quirks. Day after day you'd try to pry the info from your father, and every day he'd say the same thing.
"Don't worry sweetie, it's the son of a family friend."
Despite that, it never made you feel better as no one ever made friendly visits so, for you, it was still a stranger. Despite this, you'd calm those anxieties away and continue as you normally would.
Chores were to be done, then your studies, then training. You trained with a variety of people, and a variety of quirks. But your favorite was when they brought in Eraserhead, your favorite pro hero. He would stop you from doing anything quirk related and predominantly helped in training you with standard hand-to-hand combat. You never knew how your dad got him to come, always something about a 'personal favor'.
"You've improved since our last session." He said, his voice heavy with sleepiness, his eyes glowing red as he watched you.
"Thanks." You smile, wiping the sweat from your brow. "Now when are you gonna let me copy that quirk of yours?"
"You don't even know if you can, copy it." He chuckled. Bracing himself as you ran at him.
"Won't know unless you let me try!" You holler as he jumps away from your attacks.
Your quirk was mirror; you could copy any quirk you see, except for mutation quirks. Originally you could only use it for 15 minutes but with training you can now use it up to 20 if the quirk is compatible, but if it is not you dealt with severe physical repercussions.
"It's a shame you didn't try for U.A." he grunted, taking a kick to his shoulder. "There's a student there with a similar quirk, but it needs physical touch to copy. You two could've learned from each other." He grabbed your foot and shoved you forward making you lose all balance. Your back slammed to the ground knocking the wind out of you, before you could recover he had you pinned.
"You're getting sloppy, you're relying too much on distance quirks again. Aren't you?" He scolded you as he held a hand out."I don't have a choice on the trainers Eraserhead." You tried defending yourself, clamming up at his glare. You were afraid of what his students got from him.
"But you have a choice in how you fight."
He was right, every fight you had the option to get close and use their quirk dependence against them, but getting to copy something brought you so much joy. You wanted to ask him about the school, about his students but without a chance your mom came in.
"How is it going?" She smiled, bowing to Eraserhead as he gathered his things.
"Her form is good, and her stamina is improving," he started making you feel proud, "but it seems like she's relying too much on other's quirks, so her form was sloppy and attacks almost lazy." He looked at you, then back to your mother.
"I mean no disrespect, but if she ever wants to try and be a hero she'll need to work more on honing her own skills and not just relying on quirks. There may come a time when there's nothing to copy and what would she do?""Please don't talk about me like I'm not in the room." You spat, growing flustered at his words. He looked at you, like he was scanning you but never showed anything on his face. He only bowed again before turning to leave.
"Thank you again." Your, mother, called out to him. "I'll be sure to consider your instruction." You lean on her shoulder, frustrated at yourself for getting caught up in your emotions. You felt her arm wrap around your shoulder as she gave it a reassuring squeeze.
"It's okay sweetie, he means well."
