It had been a week know I think, mom and dad are still gone and I don't know if they'll ever come back. I was scared for what could have happened to them and I was scared that I would be alone forever, not knowing what to do. I'd probably end up homeless if they didn't show up within a few more weeks. She'd be stuck in this new place, where she didn't know where anything was.
She crawled out of her bed and went to her suit case, changing into a fresh pair of clothes and grabbed her favorite porcelain doll from the suitcase. It had silky brown hair that she kept in good condition, and a lacy light blue and white dress.
She was walking around her room in circles singing to her doll as she heard a noise coming from inside the walls. She quickly hid behind her bed and stopped singing, trying to listen in on the noise. It sounded like taping? How would that be?
She sat her doll on her bed and decided to follow the noise. This weird sound had led her out into the hallway until she heard the noise stop. Ruby looked over at the wall and noticed a crack in the wall.
"What's this? " she whispered to herself.
Ruby pushed her face up against the wall, peaking into the crack. She gasped and stepped back, putting her hands over her mouth, hoping whatever she saw didn't hear her.
Ruby slowly crept back over to the crack and looked in again. There was a boy who looked about her age. Was this the apartment next to hers? Or was he in the walls? She thought to herself for a while as she watched the young boy read a old dusty book. It had to be the apartment across from hers, there was no way a the walls were thick enough to hold a room that big.
She watched as the boy got up and sat his book down.
"I can tell you're watching me, just say something already. " the young boy said.
"You can tell I'm here? " Ruby gasped loudly.
"Shhh, keep it down! My sister is trying to sleep! " the boy said.
Ruby looked in the crack again and there was a girl who seemed way younger sleeping on the floor. They both were wearing ripped old looking clothing and both had jet black hair.
     "W-whats you're name? " Ruby said quietly.
"I'm mike, and my little sister over there, her name is Macy. "
I was shocked at what he was going to tell me next...
