"Get up!"
"I said get up!"
Elizabeth sighed as she rubbed her eyes open, waking up to see a fuming Philip standing beside her bed, dressed corporately. She knew today was going to be one of those extremely bad day for her. This is how it usually starts, and she could sense the well of tears awaiting her cue to start falling down her eyes as she once again listen to her husband insult her.
"Good morning. What is it?" She sat up and dropped her legs to the floor. Waiting for him to start.
"Keep your greeting to yourself, why are your clothes still in the dryer?" He hissed.
"I forgot to fold them last night, I'll do them once I wash up." She answered.
"You forgot?" Philip scoffed, "You do nothing all day, laze around the house and you can't even fold your own clothes. I'm about to go to work but here I am quickly doing my laundry but your lazy ass won't let me dry them because of your supposed forgetfulness."
"What do you mean laze around, Philip?" She got up to face him, glad they are almost the same height not to get intimidated, "I work from home, you know that, you know I am a copywriter." She defended herself. The least he could do was not ridicule her to be a jobless lazy housewife, she works her ass off to make her own money.
"Pffft, what's copywriting?" He mocked.
"That's the job you met me doing when we first got together, stop acting like you don't, it's not nice." She says, her voice hard.
"Not nice?!" He gasped dramatically with anger in his eyes, " You are the un-nice one," He accused, "You are the useless barren wife. Useless and lazy fool." He insulted her.
She could never get used to the feeling of him insulting her, calling her that, hence the tears strolling down her cheeks.
"But why–" Her voice broke, "–why Philip?" She asked, "Why do you say these things to me?"
"Because it's what you are, an empty barrel, and you know what they say about empty barrels, they make the loudest noise just like how you are crying now. You are so pathetic." He says with disgust lacing his tone.
"If I'm pathetic, if I'm useless, if I'm lazy, then send me away." She cried, "Send me away, Philip."
"I know your plan woman, but I will not let your plans be successful." He laughs at her.
"What is my plan?"
"Oh yeah?" He lifts his brows in mock, "The fact that you want me to divorce you so you can take half of my property, you hungry bitch."
"Oh my God, oh my God Philip, where did you get that from?" She gasps in tears, asking, "You know I am not that kind of woman, I didn't marry you for money and I make my own money but if you don't love me and not want me as your wife then send me away." She can't believe he would say such thing to her, he wasn't even rich like this when they married, and back then, she was working and making her own money, she wonders where he got the notion from. And if he doesn't want her, he should just divorce her.
"I've spoken to my lawyer and he told me you would say this but people change Elizabeth, people change. You are now a money-hungry bitch. So when you want to leave, you can leave because I am not going to divorce you." He finishes, voice firm making her heart break even more. He is already involving a lawyer, getting advices and now thinking the worst of her.
"You talk about change, but look at you Philip, you are the one who changed not me. I am here, still loving you but you," She paused, wiping her face, "You are cheating on me, you treat me bad, you insult me like I'm nothing. You are the one who changed." She gulped down her saliva.
