The first person to open their eyes was Paintbrush. They groaned and slowly stretched their limbs out. Before sitting up, they looked around the surrounding area. Their eyes were quite fuzzy, so they couldn't quite make out where they were. Paintbrush rubbed their eyes and sat up. Then they realised they were in a giant white room with nothing in it. The room was dark. There were no lights. The silence was too loud for Paintbrush to handle.
They started to breathe a lot quicker. They looked at the surrounding walls to see they were padded with white squares, resembling a giant insane asylum. They then looked towards a large, wide window that was on the opposite side of the room. They noticed on the other side of the window was a smaller room with lighting. They then diverted their eyes over towards a door, that was on the other side of the window, but miles away from it.
Paintbrush didn't even speak. Their mind was too overloaded with confusion. What was going on? Why were they inside this room?
Paintbrush decided to stand up and look around. The room was too dark, but they could tell it was huge, due to the window.
They stumbled around because they didn't know where they were going exactly.
Eventually, Paintbrush reached the other side of the room. As they leaned their back on to the wall, they slumped down on the floor.
They were hoping to see something, or someone in the room, but to no luck.
*cough*
Paintbrush looked to the right. They couldn't see anyone, but they knew someone was there. They slowly crawled towards the location of the cough. They were thinking if they recognised the cough. As soon as Paintbrush reached the corner, they were correct with their thinking.
They did recognise the cough.
It was Lightbulb, who was still asleep.
Paintbrush didn't want to waste any time. They gently nudged Lightbulb's shoulder.
She instantly woke up.
Paintbrush decided to speak first.
''Lightbulb... I don't know where we are... but we're in a room...''
She rubbed her eyes. She was confused. She thought Paintbrush was playing a prank on her.
''...oh painty, very funny...''
''Lightbulb, I'm not joking. Look around you.''
Lightbulb slowly inspected the room. She started to realise that Paintbrush was indeed not joking. She quickly sat forward.
''Where are we?! What's going on?!''
''I-I don't know! I just woke up about 5 minutes ago!...''
Lightbulb started to panic. She started to get the feeling that there was no escape. Paintbrush noticed her panicky behaviour.
''Lightbulb, calm down! Calm down...''
They carefully wrapped their arms around her, leading Lightbulb to lay her head onto Paintbrush's chest.
Paintbrush didn't like it when Lightbulb was distraught or frightened. She's normally a happy, benevolent person, so seeing her like this definitely sucks.
Before Paintbrush could soothe Lightbulb's frightened mood, an ear-deafening ringing noise played over a tannoid up above the window.
Lightbulb had her hearing covered by Paintbrush, who sacrificed theirs for hers.
