The concert lasted two hours, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Memorable! Five minutes later, the privileged circle of which they are a part tonight is headed backstage to meet the band. Many are there to interview them except for eight others who are either close friends or just lucky fans who must have won by entering a contest on the radio.
Despite their access badge, Mary-Lann and Kate will not be able to meet them, the Pearl Jam assistant manager informs them. The young actress answers him that she finds that inadmissible, very disappointed, finding that unfair compared to the five other fans who as for them will be able to meet the band. As she raises her voice, this attracts the attention of some people, including Eddie Vedder, who recognizes her well, while Kate starts to feel embarrassed that her friend is complaining.
"Forget it." she whispers to her.
The young actress stares at her and nods, without thinking of apologizing to the assistant.
"You are right." she says in a sober tone.
She then takes off the badge she had put around her neck and throws it brutally on the floor a few seconds later. After seeing this, Eddie Vedder understands her a little and at the same time sees her as a rude little pest. He who wanted three minutes ago to intervene with his manager to make him change his mind so that they could meet the band, he thinks that it would have been a mistake finally.
"To hell with her" he thinks.
Once outside, Mary-Lann gets upset.
"How can they treat people like that!"
"I know, I understand you but try to calm down." her friend replies with a soft voice.
The young woman then softens, ready to cry because of the emotions and having lost her temper a little backstage.
"I blame myself, I was stupid to react like that." she says, crossing her arms.
She then unties her black and white plaid shirt from her waist and pulls it over her. The degrees dropped. Kate then takes her in his arms and consoles her.
"We go back to the hotel and we are going to order some ice cream with whipped cream and everything you want" proposes her friend warmly.
Mary-Lann stretches a big smile and nods her head.
"The evening having been fantastic, it would be a shame to ruin everything."
"You're right."
After returning to the hotel around 12:35 a.m., the two friends enjoy two tubs of chocolate caramel pecan ice cream with lots of whipped cream on top as planned. Sitting cross-legged on the floor of Kate's room, in the small dining area, Mary-Lann seems to have recovered her spirits. Both of them are now chatting in a good mood about everything and anything and about the concert which will remain an unforgettable moment despite this disappointment.
"You will thank your friend. When I think about it ..."
Mary-Lann sighs slightly, the look briefly pensive.
"I will." Kate replies, giving a sympathetic smile.
They reminisce through their exchanges about the moment when Eddie Vedder sang Black. Just talking about it, a strong emotion emerges, both happy and melancholic. The two friends are still shaken up by this song, which is so heartbreakingly beautiful.
"And her voice!" exclaims the makeup pro.
Mary-Lann nods with a smile of ecstasy, almost forgetting her bitterness.
"And that girl who screamed at him; I love you, when he addressed the audience." adds Kate, her expression hilarious.
"And he responded by laughing at him; How can you love me, you don't even know me."
