Mary-Lann and Kate are still friends, having worked together on another movie shoot in this new year 1992. She actually invited him to accompany her to the MTV Music Awards having received three invitations.

"And who are you going to invite as a third person?" she asked him two weeks ago.

"Guess?"

"I don't know."

"Eddie."

"No? Are you kidding?" she said, thinking that crush was past crush by now.

"Why not?"

"I don't want to be a bird of ill omen, but I don't think he'll say yes, and besides, he has a girlfriend. We know that now, he mentioned it in an interview that came out in Rolling Stone magazine in April."

"But it would just be for him to come with us. It would be fun."

While putting on her makeup, Kate raises her eyebrows not at all convinced.

"Nothing ventured, nothing gained. You never know." she says confidently.

"Try your luck then." answers her friend, a little tired of her obsession.

"Even if he refuses to come with us, I hope you will come with me. We'll have a great time. And you are my friend. That counts above all."

"Of course I'll come."

Despite Mary-Lann's temperament, Kate doesn't doubt for a second the sincerity toward their friendship. But that she is still obsessed with him makes her tired and frightened. She wouldn't want her friend to get into serious trouble, even harassment.

During the two months that pass, the young actress who was finally spotted by Tom Burton four months ago to play in his next movie in a very good supporting role after the horror movie; The Fear was released and received good reviews overall, she is scrambling to be able to contact Eddie Vedder which fails.

When he finds out, he makes it clear to his professional and friendly circle that he does not want to talk to her or meet her under any circumstances. And his girlfriend has a very bad opinion of Mary-Lann, even saying that if she met her somewhere, she would make him regret harassing people so relentlessly.

Thanks to her connections, Mary-Lann knew where Pearl Jam was supposed to stay when they were in concert in a city or abroad and call to try to contact him. She even sent flowers to Eddie Vedder's attention at their record company. She even managed to follow him in her car one day as he drove to a radio station for an interview. She became a real stalker during this period without the singer realizing how much the young woman did to meet him. Pure madness indeed.

When the MTV Music Awards ceremony took place at the Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, Eddie Vedder managed to avoid it and it was better because if Beth Liebling had met her, it would have surely ended in a fight because of this harassment. Fortunately, Mary-Lann didn't have more problems than that because she is not yet fully known, recognized by the artistic world, it won't harm her and thanks to Eddie Vedder who is not the kind of person to look for trouble. Besides, Kate and her had a good time during the evening despite the young actress looked for the singer at least at the beginning.

Mary-Lann's crush then stopped and kept a low profile. Falling for someone like that in general is never a healthy behavior. She will have only met him in a dream during a night spent with him in a very private way.

Two years later during an interview, Mary-Lann answered a question asked among many others when she could very well have lied. It is on the occasion of the release of an independent film in which she played, that the young woman was interviewed by a journalist who works for Time Magazine. A surprising proposal but she could not refuse. She started to become a little recognized by the film industry.

"What's the craziest thing you've ever done?" he asked her.

After a brief hesitation, she told him about her crush on Pearl Jam's lead singer. The reporter smiled, surprised by this answer, wondering how it was crazy. When she told him the rest, he was stunned, not believing his ears that she was telling him the whole truth about the story. He found it both funny and creepy at the same time. Perhaps the strangest part was when Mary-Lann said she was sorry and realized how far she had gone in her behavior.

The reporter recorded everything with his tape recorder, figuring that it had been unusual and not at all annoying in the end as he had thought.

A week later, the interview appeared in Time Magazine. The interview went somewhat unnoticed by the readers, but the most important thing was that the young woman had found the opportunity to say she was sorry and hoped that maybe Eddie Vedder would read it. Was it sincere or calculating? Her crush was well and truly over.

A month later, Pearl Jam was in concert in Chicago. On stage, Eddie Vedder, who was in a teasing mood in his own way, dedicated Satan's Bed.

"To all those who will have the courage to recognize themselves."

And he hummed like this; Mary ..Mary ... Lala Lann. The audience didn't know who he was talking about, just applauding for the next song that was about to be played.

"Thank you! You are forgiven if your sincerity is true!" he shouted.

The fans thought he was playing the actor. A coded response that was well addressed to Mary-Lann who didn't know it. For her sake, who knows.
