We were late, so late. The whole team had fallen asleep as soon as we got to the hotel, and most of us forgot to set alarms, those who did just ignored them.
"Hinata give me my shoe, you're wearing my left one!" Hinata was mid way through placing my left shoe on his right foot when he looked up.
"Oh sorry." He handed me my shoe, and both of us simultaneously yawned. We had fallen asleep as soon as we got to the room, at 8 o'clock. It was now 12 hours later, and we were late to the camp. Hinata was now frantically packing his bag while eating one of my protein bars I had given him.
"Out the door now, come on let's go!" Hinata slammed into the door in his attempt to leave quickly and I doubled over with laughter. He got up, with a red face, and stared me down.
"Are.. you.. Okay?" It was hard to form words with the level that I was laughing at, and Hinata looked at me, with a look in his eyes that I hadn't seen before. A look where his eyes softened, and it was almost like he was in awe, but I know he wasn't. It confused me, but I shrugged it off and reached over Hinata to open the door. We met most of our team in the lift, seven of us trying to squeeze into a tiny cramped area.
When we made it down to the lobby, we ran out the door, sprinting the 15 minute walk that it took to get us to the gym.
"Finally Karasuno shows up!" Fukurodani's coach was walking over to us, a stern expression on his face. Coach started apologising and saying it was all his fault, as the rest of the team went to warm up.
"I'm just gonna go to the bathroom." I whispered to Hinata, as I slowly backed away, trying not to let Coach know I was leaving. On my way to the bathroom, my unfortunate habit acted up again, and I saw two unlikely figures pressed against a wall. A tall dark haired guy had his back to the wall, and a shorter boy with long blonde hair was on his tiptoes, kissing him. I made a mental note to congratulate Kuroo later, and walked on to the bathroom.
The ball felt good today, my hands felt good, and everyone else seemed to be the opposite. The air con had actually broken in everyone's rooms, except ironically, me and Hinata's room. Today we wanted to focus on upping our block game, and not leaving Tsukishima all the work, although I wouldn't mind giving that jerk some work now and then. After our tight set against Fukurodani, with us coming on top by a hair only because Bokuto had gotten in one of his moods, I walked over to where Nekoma was sitting and sat down next to Kuroo.
"Congrats you coward." I held out a fist to bump him and he smiled, knowing what I was talking about.
"You saw that huh, I finally plucked up the courage to make a move and holy shit it felt amazing." He couldn't stop grinning, and I felt a twinge of jealousy. Why couldn't I be that happy with Hinata?
"I'm happy for you guys, do you want me to keep this quiet though?" I asked, knowing I've been keeping quite a few of these things secret recently.
"Yeah man, sorry to burden you like this."
"Nah, don't even sweat it.""So, you gonna make a move on Hinata any time soon?" Kuroo lifted one of his eyebrows, in a question and I sighed.
"Maybe, I don't know, it's hard to decide."
"Look, in my opinion, do it sooner rather than later. You need to get this weight off of your chest before Nationals start, or you're going to be all over the place." He was right of course. I needed to sort this out, and fast, otherwise Nationals will be a disaster. At that point I decided. I was going to tell Hinata I liked him tonight.
Training ended early today, around 4, as the gym we were in was being used for a local club match. We were free to roam around the area, just as long as we didn't go too far, and we were back by 7 o clock.
