Some things never change

Some things never change, one of those things being how Alex feels about Neema. He tries to change that but it's not happening. He decides to ignore her for the week, go on his date with Clair and leave Neema alone, that of course doesn't work out. See there's a rumor by Wednesday that Neema has a date with Blake and Alex doesn't like the sound of that at all. Call him a hypocrite if you will(and you probably will) but he doesn't understand how she can go on a date with Blake after she kissed Alex(Alex kissed her) on Saturday. Alex obviously has to confront her about this because he doesn't understand. It's easy finding her because Alex has Neema's schedule set to memory (he's not creepy). He meets her at her locker during fourth period because she always forgets something for that class, she seems shocked to see him there but then she looks annoyed and Alex understands why, he really does but he hates having her look at him like that. "Hey." Alex says leaning against the locker next to hers. She just nods, Alex sighs and decides to start his long most likely embarrassing monologue now. "Look I know you're probably mad at me right now which I guess is understandable, but why are you going on a date with Blake ?! I know you can do whatever you want but just Saturday you acted like you really liked me, and I know we always say we hate each other but it sure doesn't seem like it. And I'd really appreciate it if you could cancel your date with Blake and maybe we could try again." Alex takes a deep breath and waits. Neema looks at him for a second and then opens her mouth but Alex beats her to it "the truth is I really like you Neema and I know you like me too and I don't see the point in us hurting each other by seeing other people, when we could have been together for three years now." Alex thinks he's finally done and he kind of wants to walk away and act like this didn't happen but instead he waits. "You made plans with Clair, Alex! You're the one who said you didn't want a relationship and that you only saw me as a friend... You kissed me first! You can't get mad at me for going on a date, which by the way I'm not even going on a date with Blake, unlike you when I like someone that's kind of it for the moment, and I hate to admit it but I really like you." Neema stops talking and looks at me. For a while we just sit there staring at each other, and my hearts beating way too fast in my chest. "Let's just try again." I mumble taking a step closer to her. She looks like she's torn between giving me a second chance and punching me in the face. Neema takes a deep breath and finally says "I can't keep doing the Alex, I'm sorry but you already had your chance." With that she turns and walks away and it feels like this is bigger than just two high school kids who like each other.
