"When you were younger you must of thought of dragons and wolves and monsters as villains" The old man whispered as he skims through the pages of the golden book.
"But now I'll be the on to tell you of the story which continues to plague my mind." The old man slams the book closed, and slides it towards me.
"It seems I have little time left in this world. I cannot read it too you" He sighs "Please have. Read it."
"U-uhmm.. Sir, isn't this book important to you?" I slid the book back toward the old man. "Plus, I don't have the time to read a book of fantasy. Those are for little kids."
"Please read it. Before I pass away, I wish for you to read it." The man straightens his posture, "Explain the story to me after your done."
I mutter under my breath, and inwardly sigh. 'It's almost 8:00 AM I need to get to school'
"Fine! I'll read it." I snatch the book out of his hands. As my eyes gaze over the book I notice how beautiful the cover now that it's up close.
"Eh?" I stared at the title, unblinkingly " As Another Day Passes? What an inquisitive title."
I shove the book into my bag, and swing it over my shoulder. "I have an project in English class on children's books, so thank you."
The elderly man nodded, "Now you go on to school! I don't wanna keep you."
"Oh, yeah! Thanks for reminding me!" I rushed out the door, and sprinted down the street.
"Mom is going to kill me if I'm late the first day of school!"
