There will forever be just two words
that come to this author's mind
the morning after any good party,
'shock' and 'delight.'

Well, dear reader, the scandalous accounts
from last night's soiree at Vauxhall
are quite shocking and delightful indeed.

Emerging, phoenix-like
from the ashes of irrelevance,
much unlike her sister
is one Miss Daphne Bridgerton.

The illustrious debutante
was seen dancing not once, but twice
with the season's most eligible
and most uncatchable rake,
the Duke of Hastings.

One does seem to wonder
how the older Miss Adelaide Bridgerton
feels about her sisters new
love match.

I had spent the entirety of my morning in the drawing room my head filled with images of Simon and Daphne promenading. Mother had accompanied them, no doubt in order to gossip with Lady Danbury about her daughter's 'love match' as stated in the newest of Lady Whistledowns society papers.

Now, I sat upon the armchair facing Benedict and Colin listening to Daphne playing the piano "Two dances? With a duke?" Our little sister asks intrigued, she had always been the most excited by the idea of high society.

"He was quite taken with your sister, Hyacinth" Mama smiles taking a small polite bite of her lunch. My heart tightened but I smile, truly I was happy for her. "The entire party was, for that matter. All eyes were on Daphne. At least enjoy some toast, dearest"

Daphne peers up from the keys and to the plate mother was extending towards her "I am not hungry, Mama" she refuses.

"Are you certain the entire party was not simply eyeing a tear in her dress?" Colin questioned with a raised brow. The one thing the Bridgerton brothers all shared in common, was their enjoyment in riling up their sisters.

Benedict nodded with a feigned intrigue "Or a misstep she took on the dance floor?" I roll my eyes leaning forward slapping them both on the arm.

"Don't listen Daph, I'm sure you were the most dazzling there" she looks back at me, her fingers still gracing the keys, sending me a grateful smile.

I sit back laying my head against the back of the chair, tuning my family out as mama continues her interrogation of Daphnes relationship with the Duke.
