A Fighting Chance

You had been gone at sea for a long time, not exactly in a Viking crew but more so traveling alone. The traveling was fun ,all the adventures you had gone on and all the villages you had seen and visited , but nothing had compared to the fighting. Being a lone Viking could be hard since you were constantly fighting alone but the towns people and families form the smaller villages needed someone or somebody to help them form those who would wash up by their village and try to rob or harm them.

However now came time for you to find a village you could take shelter at for awhile so you could have a break from the rough life and the killing. As you were sailing along you came across this decent sized village that was quite lively. Children ran around screaming and laughing , just having fun. The sheep were out grazing and it all looked so serene. That would be perfect place to rest at.

You began docking your boat and getting ready to go explore when you heard loud yelling and what sounded like a crash, worried you quickly rushed off your boat and towards the center of the village where the commotion was. Rushing past people and finally getting to where the noise was you sighed in annoyance. All that ruckus was just some drunk foolish men who were causing a scene yelling about some dual ? Well that could be interesting, getting a good spot you asked one of the men standing next to you who and what they were fighting about. The man who seemed to be the only sober one amongst the crowd turned and thankfully explained that the older man was their leader and the younger one was one of his men, and they were fighting over a "personal issue", thanking the man for his bland and short explanation you began moving on to further look around to see if you could find any lodging. As you were walking l past you happened to glance at the older man in the dual who seemed to be looking at you ? "What a creep", you said as you turned and walked away.

After some time of searching you found lodging and managed to get something to eat, while eating you had overheard that, that old man had won against that orphan child. No surprise there since the younger one looked like he was barely 12.

After finishing your meal you decided to stroll around and make sure everyone was behaving and no one was in need of help, while walking around you heard a women yelling she sounded stressed and almost panicked. You quickly went to one of the trees closet to her to scope out what the situation was and what action needs to be taken. Upon further investigation some disgusting fool was trying to harass the women insisting heavily that she come with him to "help him" with something.

Disgusting , god you hated when you came across stuff like this. Suddenly the guy raised his hand about to strike her, it was time for you to hurry up and intervene. You quickly went up to the man grabbing ahold of his hand and his collar and moving him away from the lady. "When a women says no that means no and you should abide by that and back the hell off you creep" you snapped. The man looked  taken aback but not for long as he quickly recovered and began getting violent towards you. "A women should know her place and stay out of men's affairs, I suggest you go back to whoever you belong to before I have to put you in to ur place".

You smiled for a split second at his audacity before taking the chance to spit in his face. The guy lost it and lifted his hand to slap you but not before you punched him in the face and kicked him in the back of the knee so he would stumble and drop to his knees. "I would I suggest you crawl back to whatever filthy alley you came from" you said as the guy seethed an writhed in pain. He continued to call you all types of profanities as you checked to see if the lady was okay but she had already fled. The man got back up and looked ready to kill you but before he could get closer someone yelled , " I don't know what the hell you think you're doing but your supposed to be resting and celebrating our wins not harassing women and threatening them"! It was the man from earlier who was dueling that young kid. "Don't make me warn you again Benjamin or you're gone, and will no longer be one of my soldiers and I will personally beat the shit out of you GOT IT"! " I-  yes-s sir Askeladd".

Oh do that man's name was Askeladd, hmm well that's interesting you thought. You both watched the creep now named Benjamin quickly leave. "I see your new here and already causing fight with my men huh" he laughed. " How do you know I'm new to this village we just met" you questioned. "Exactly, I've lived here for a long time and I've never seen you before and believe me I would have noticed someone like you" he said matter of factly.

"Hm impressive ,Askeladd is it"?  "Yes and you are?"  "My name is Y/N " you put your hand out to shake hands. "Nice to meet you Y/N" he said as he pressed a kiss to your knuckles".  Well goddamn he's good ,you thought. "So now that we are acquainted I would love to talk about your fighting skills". "Oh really" you smirked.

"Yes and you'll have to give me a chance to convince you to join me and my crew" he said arrogantly. "Guess I'll give you that chance, you better make it worth my time Askeladd", you winked as you both began walking back to the fire some of his men sat at. A friendship strayed that night, a friendship that would bloom into something more. To think it all started because of fight.
