Everything is dark. Everything is so blank. I hear a voice I can't quite make it out. I feel a presents. It's strong but gentle.
KNOCK KNOCK!
Satoru's POV
I jolt awake hearing a knock on the door. I keep having the same reacquiring dream. I wish I could make out that voice. I know that was from my coma. I started having that dream about a month or two ago. Eh whatever it's fine.
"I'll get it!" I walk to the door and open it. Their is Kenya wearing a sweet smile rosy cheeks and nose from the cold. I quickly move out of the way letting him in.
"Kenya hurry it's freezing! I didn't know you were coming over." He steps in and I close the door. He kicks off his boots and hangs up his coat.
"Your mom invited me over for dinner." My face grows hot for some reason I just shake it off.
"Oh well come sit on the couch. I'll get you a blanket dinner should be ready soon." He nods and follows me to the living room. I hand him a blanket and we sit down.
"Oh Kenya sweetie you made it. I hope your not too cold. I'm making curry it should be ready soon."
"Thank you and don't worry the drive wasn't too bad." Mom smiles and heads back to the kitchen.
"So it's been a while since we talked how have things been?" I'm fine with it being in silence but I wanted to catch up at least a little. Kenya doesn't talk much so I normally always have to start the conversation.
"Good how has it been with you and your mom?"
"It's been pretty good I try to spend as much time with her as I can. I got a job too so it's been pretty good." He smiles. That's one thing he never used to do when he was younger. Ever since I woke from my coma though he smiles a lot. I wonder what I missed but whatever it is I'm glad. I like seeing him happy. He's my friend of course.
"The curry is ready!" We both get up and head to the kitchen/dining room. Mom walks up to Kenya and gives him a hug.
"It's been so long Kenya I'm glad you could make it we both really missed you."
"Yes I've missed you both as well and thank you for having me over." His smile is genuine. I feel heat rise up my neck and settle on my cheeks and the tips of my ears. This has happened ever since we were little I would get butterflies and heat lay on my cheeks.
We sit down next to each other mom across from us.
"So how have things been Kenya have you written anything new at all?" Written anything? He put his head down slightly and it looks like he is blushing?
"A couple, but I'm still working on them." Writing what?
"Kenya I didn't know you want to be an author." I think he would be good at that. He puts his head down further. I can tell now he's definitely blushing. He looks kind of cute. I always thought he was cute. In a friend way of course.
"Song writer actually." My mind goes back the voice in my dream. I just shake it off.
"Oh really that's awesome." I smile that job suits him.
"We would love hear some of them." My mom pipes in. His eyes widen.
"Oh well they're still not finished yet so maybe when they're done." He awkwardly giggles and begins to eat his food.
"How I've missed your curry." He smiles again. I'm still not quite used to seeing him smile so much but it's nice.
After dinner mom insists he stay since it's so cold and goes to set up an extra futon.
"You and mom seem close." I said. I didn't it in a mean way I was just wondering. I hate the feeling of missing fifteen years and the gap. I missed so much.
"Oh well we talked when I visited you in the hospital." I didn't know he visited me. Well I know he did after I woke up, that's probably what he's talking about.
"Oh so you talked to mom at the hospital how come I don't remember you guys talking?" He looked sad but only for split second.
"We talked during your coma when I visited." He visited when I was still in my coma?
"You visited me then?" He puts his head down again hiding his face with his hair.
"Well yeah, you know when I wasn't busy or anything." Why does that make me happy? Oh well of course that makes me happy he my friend and that shows he cares.
Kenya's POV
That was a lie. There were many times I was busy but still stopped by anyway. No matter what was happening I didn't miss a single day even if I only stayed long enough to brush Satoru's hair and help out a little.
He smiles and my heart flutters. Man I've missed him.
"Okay the futon is all set up feel free to take a shower if you like. You can go to bed whenever. I will be in the living room feel free to wake me up if you need anything."
"Mom you're not planning to sleep on the couch are you?" She smiles.
"Yes you and Kenya can share the bedroom." I start to blush and I see her smirk just enough so I can tell. Now I really regret telling her about my feelings for Satoru.
"No don't worry about it I will sleep on the couch."
"No Kenya I will sleep on the couch. See it as a thank you." I raise an eyebrow.
"For what exactly?" Satoru looks just as confused.
"For everything you've done. Let me sleep on the couch this time. Now go to bed!" She didn't yell or anything but I can tell that was an order.
"But"
"No buts for either of you now go to bed." We both reluctantly head to the bedroom. As I feel my face go red. Yep I definitely regret telling her.
Hello everyone sorry it took so long for this to come out I have had zero motivation but I will try to get chapters out more frequently! I hope you enjoyed the first chapter!
