Falling for a Cowboy

Chapter 10

Rip's POV
"Let's get married. I want you to be my wife." I say while eating breakfast. Miranda looks up at me with wide eyes. "What did you say?" She asks in shock. "Let's get married." I repeat with a nervous smile. "Ok." She says as a smile slowly spreads across her face. "Really?" "Yes baby. I want to be your wife."

(2 Weeks Later)
It's been a couple weeks since I asked Miranda to marry me. We haven't told anyone yet because we have been enjoying the moment just the two of us. Miranda and I went yesterday and picked out a ring for her, and she found the perfect one. Tonight, we will be telling everyone when we all gather at the main house for family dinner. Right now, I'm up in the bedroom watching Miranda pace around and trying to find something to wear. "I don't like this one either!" She yells as she takes off another dress and throws it on the floor. "Baby, calm down.  Why are you so nervous? You look beautiful in everything." I tell her trying to calm her down. "I'm just nervous. I want tonight to go well." "It will babe. Everything is going to be fine."

Miranda's POV
"Wow you look amazing." Rip says as I walk down the stairs in the yellow dress that I finally decided on. "Thank you. Is it too much?" "I think it's perfect." He tells me with a kiss. We make our way down to the main house. Before we reach the door, I slide the ring off my finger and stick it in the front pocket of Rip's jeans. "You can slide it back on my finger after we tell everyone." I kiss him softly as he nods his head. Monica and Kayce are the first to greet us as we walk in the door. I hug Monica and we make our way to the dining room. As everyone gets settled at the table, Rip stands up. "Miranda and I have an announcement to make." He says as I stand up. "We're engaged!" I say excitedly as Rip slips the ring back on my finger and I hold my hand up. Everyone cheers, except for Beth, who gets up and walks out of the room."

Beth's POV
"We're engaged!" As soon as those words came out of Miranda's mouth, I left the room. I made it to the front porch when I heard foot steps behind me. "What the hell is your problem Beth?" Rip says from behind me. I turn around and glare at him. "How could you be giving her the life that you and I were supposed to have? You and I were supposed to end up together." I yell at him. "You left! You took off, leaving me behind and became a hot shot city girl. I wasn't going to chase you forever. You never gave me the time of day until Miranda came around." He yells back. "So you think that Miss Country Superstar is always gonna be there?" "Yes I will be." I hear Miranda's voice as she walks outside. "I moved HERE for HIM. He wouldn't have been happy living in Nashville and I love it here. And if he asked me to give it all up, I would do it in a heartbeat. I'd quit music and touring if it meant that I could have him forever. But I know that he would never ask me to give up doing what I love, and I wouldn't ask him to do it either." "Maybe it's time that you move on now Beth." Rip says before grabbing Miranda's hand and walking back inside for dinner.

Rip's POV
After dinner, Miranda and I got back to the house and we are relaxing in the tub together. "What's on your mind Cowboy?" Miranda asks, breaking the silence. "Maybe we should move. Have our own ranch." I say looking at her. "Baby, I love it here. I love being around everyone." "I know and I do too, but sometimes Beth is too much. I just don't want her to ruin us or cause problems." I tell her honestly. "Rip Wheeler, you listen to me. I am not afraid of Beth. I can deal with her wrath all day long. I meant everything I said. I would give everything up for you if it meant you were happy. I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to be Mrs. Wheeler." She says moving towards me and kissing me. "I love you." "I love you too."
