The moon casts a hazy glow across the night sky, painting the world in a surreal light that distorts the shapes of the buildings around me. My heart races as I walk through the shadowy streets, unsure of what lies ahead. If only I possessed the power to transform into a creature of the night, with eyes that could pierce through the darkness, then I wouldn't feel so vulnerable. I wonder if wolf shifters are capable of such a thing.
As I approach the orphanage, the flickering lights of the lanterns glowing in the distance, shows me my destination. The warm glow brings a sense of comfort, but it also reminds me of the looming confrontation with Father Cedric.I draw in a deep breath, steeling myself for what awaits me. I can already envision Father Cedric's disapproving scowl and biting rebukes. As I make my way through the deserted streets, my footfalls echo like ominous drumbeats. With each step, I feel the crushing weight of my mistakes bearing down on me. Finally, I reach the orphanage and gingerly push open the door, bracing myself for the worst.
To my surprise, there is no sign of Cedric waiting for me. The silence is eerie, and I hesitate before stepping inside. As I do, I shut the door with a soft click and make a beeline for the culinary workshop. The forest stag meat in my bag feels like a burden, but at least it's the only thing I have to carry thanks to Draven.
I sets the bag of Forest stag meat on the countertop and begins to prepare it for storage. I retrieves the sharpest knife from the drawer and begins to carefully slice the meat into thin strips. Inspecting each slice closely, discarding any that are too tough or fatty. Once I have a sizable pile of meat slices, I moves over to the stove and turns on the burner.
I then retrieves a large cast iron skillet and places it on the burner, turning the heat up to high. As the skillet heats up, I sprinkles salt and black pepper over the meat slices, ensuring that each piece is evenly seasoned. Once the skillet is hot, I drizzles a bit of oil onto the surface, watching as it sizzles and smokes replaying today's events in my head.
Gosh, I wasn't expecting Draven Quintain to be so attractive. Even that Eron guy is attractive. If only he would have acted like a proper man.
Shaking my head in a heated panic
No. No No.... I shouldn't be thinking of him that way. especially with the way he randomly attack me. the same goes for Draven and that whole Quintain. Thoron mention that I have what it takes to join the order of the silver fang. Even without having the ability to use my elemental power. I should seriously be careful.
I couldn't stop this argumentative debate in my head and whether I should join the order of the silver fang or not. I places the seasoned meat slices onto the hot skillet, the sound of sizzling and popping filling the air. I keeps a close eye on the meat, flipping it over when it begins to turn golden brown on one side.
Once both sides are cooked I can removes the meat from the skillet and places it onto a plate lined with paper towels.
I repeats this process until all of the meat slices are cooked and ready to be stored. I then transfers the cooked meat into a large, airtight container, sealing it tightly to ensure that the meat stays fresh. Finally, placing it in the container into the ice box,
"thank goodness" satisfied that I was able to finish without waking anyone up. I lean back on the contour looking at the small mess that I have created. As I survey the mess, my thoughts drift back to Father Cedric. It's unlike him not to be waiting for me, especially when he's supposed to lecture me for coming home this late. A sense of worry creeps over me, and I decide to check his office.
I move through the silent corridors, my footsteps echoing in the empty halls. When I reach his office, I find it unlocked but empty. The only thing that indicates he was here is the faint scent of his musky and earthy smell lingering in the air.
