Chapter One: Plane Rides and Belly Shots
Jessica's P.O.V
"Are you all packed? Do you have everything? Your pajamas, toothbrush, money-"
"Yes mom, I have everything." I say, rolling my eyes. I grab my duffle bags and suitcase. I turn to see my mom's familiar blue eyes getting tears in them. I smile sadly at her. My mom was head taller than me with light blue eyes that were brighter in the summer. Her brown hair fell over her shoulders, stopping at her mid-back. Worry lines on her forehead and black bags under her eyes told me she didn't get any sleep last night. "C'mere." I open arms and she shuffles into them, crushing me into a hug.
I let go of my suitcase and brought my hand to rest on her head rubbing her hair. She sobs into my shoulder. I was leaving for Malibu, California in ten minutes from our two story brick home in Miami, Florida. I was coming back in two weeks, but my overdramatic mom thought I was moving. "I'll be back in two weeks, mama. Don't worry, you'll have your little girl back in no time. We'll Skype and communicate over the phone."
"I know. It's just that I'm going to miss you and you're my only daughter. I don't like you being away from me, especially in another state. I'm scared. All these what ifs are floating in my head and they won't go away." My mom states, sniffling. I laugh and hold her tighter.
"Mama dear, you don't need to be scared. I am coming back, trust me. I love you." I kiss her forehead before backing away. She grabs my suitcase and walks out of my room. I follow her while shutting my door. When we get downstairs, I see Taylor leaning against the counter talking to my father.
"Morning daddy." I say, kissing his cheek, hugging him from behind. I sniff his familiar Old Spice scent, which I love. He smells like home, safety and comfort. He chuckles, turning around in my arms.
"Morning baby girl. How'd you survive your mama's tears?" He raises his eyebrow, amusement in his eyes. I bit my lip, thinking I was going to miss the man. He was my world. I was, without a doubt, daddy's little girl.
"I didn't. She cried like a baby. I almost broke down myself." I admit. Taylor walks over to my mom and gives her a big hug. My mom loved Taylor like her own daughter since Taylor never had one. Her dad was never home so she basically lives at my house. Taylor kisses her cheek, ruffling my mom's hair. I giggle at the sight and turn back to my dad. "I'm going to miss you, old man." I smile sadly.
