This whole thing will be in third person, btw.

It was mid December, when the show choir season for xxxx school was drawing to a close. Their last competition was on Saturday, and by Wednesday the whole group was nervous, excited, and relieved all at once. They were doing 4 songs: It's my Life by Bon Jovi, Wings by Little Mix, Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars, and Carry On Wayward Son by Kanas.

There was a duet in the 3rd song, sung by Jacob and Daniel, who had been best friends since the beginning of last year. The two were elated when they got the duet together. However, there was one small problem with their relationship.
Jacob had spent his whole life defending his heterosexuality to his peers. Just because he was confident with his body and he sung, most people thought that he was gay. And Jacob was sure that they were wrong. That is, until he met Daniel. Jacob had always felt an attraction towards girls, but Daniel made him feel a way that no girl had so far.
Daniel, on the other hand, had had several girlfriends throughout his years, and they all made him feel amazing. He also had best friends previous to Jacob, and they made him happy too. But Jacob made Daniel happier and more amazing than any other best friends or even girlfriends had.
Both of these boys had major crushes on the other, but neither had ever dreamed that the feelings would be reciprocated. Still, Jacob decided that he had enough with hiding his feelings and planned on telling Daniel at the competition on Saturday.

Time Skip-Saturday

While the choir was waiting, Jacob was fidgeting in the corner, away from his friends. One of the girls in the choir noticed and went over too him.
"Hey, what's wrong?" she asked Jacob.
"How do you know something's wrong?" he snapped at her. He immediately apologized.
"That's fine. I know something's up because you're not being your loud and obnoxious self. What's got you down?"
Jacob sighed. "It's complicated."
"Well then pretend like it's a movie and you're telling me the plot."
"Okay. You see, there's this one guy who has thought, his whole life, that he was attracted to girls. Then he meets this boy who just makes him feel... good. Better than any girl ever made him feel. He wants to let the other boy know how he feels, but he's scared of what the other boy will say. They have a duet together in this show choir competition and it's really scary for the guy with the crush."
The girl just gave Jacob a small smile. "I think I've seen that movie, and the crush is totally two-sided. The first guy just has to state his feelings and the rest will fall into place. Now, I have to go finish up my makeup but I want to see you drawing attention to yourself, or at least talking with some of your friends." The girl walked away and Jacob took her advice, hanging out with his usual crowd.
After what seemed like ages, xxxx school's team was called. The group went out on stage and began their first song. All Jacob could think about was telling Daniel about his feelings. He hoped that the girl had been right.
Once that song ended, it was the girl's song, so the boys were all changing. Jacob didn't dare look in Dan's direction because his feelings might be revealed non-verbally. The boys walked out, and the ballad started shortly after. Jacob and Daniel's duet song had begun. It seemed like hours before the two boys had their time in the limelight, but it finally came. They stepped up to the microphones and started to sing.

When I see your face,
They looked at each other, and Jacob could see in Daniel's eyes that the girl who talked to him backstage was right.
There's not a thing that I would change
Daniel looked at Jacob and saw what some people would never find- perfection.
Cause you're amazing just they way you are.

And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while.
No matter what happened, Daniel could always find a way to smile, and that was one of those things that made Jacob love him.
Cause you're amazing,
In that moment, when the two made eye contact just before their shared line, they knew how the felt about each other, and it was sure to lead their relationship for a long time.
Just the way you are.
