Before Koenma could even try to invite Tetsuya, the young man bowed and left the office. For a room full of colorful decorations, the mood was dark and gloomy. Pinching the bridge of his nose, Koenma sank into his chair and then spoke,
"Surime. Get. Him. NOW!" Frustration came out in full volume. Surime quickly sped out the room, terrified.
"Sir, are you sure we need him? It doesn't seem right to forced him into it." George asked.
"You know how perplexing this situation is, George. I really wouldn't be doing this unless I had no choice. I already promised our heavy hitters that we wouldn't interfere with their lives too much anymore."
"Even still, it wouldn't hurt to call Yu-"
"Please George, see it from my side. As the king of Spirit World, not only is my word law but I must be behind all my decisions! I have already discharged him as spirit detective and while I did rely on his efforts in my starting years, that boy grew up to be a man with his own family and his own responsibilities. I cannot take him away from that!"
"But Sir-"
"No buts! We do not truly understand the situation yet. I need a new eyes and ears for this, someone who will not be restricted by the laws and rules of Spirit World. Let's hope that Surime can convince him."
Koenma's stomach rumbled loudly like an angry monster and Koenma blushed bright red.
"All this worrying got me hungry. George, fetch me my royal dinner!"
"You mean the kids' special set?"
"Of course."
"Would you like a toy with that?"
"George... I'm the king. Of course I want the toy! Now chop chop."
George side heavily and begrudgingly went to his task.

Surime was wheezing as she finally found and reached Tetsuya, who was speaking to a representative ogre about living spaces in Spirit World. She starts pulling his ear and dragging him back.
"Owowowow! Wait Surime, she was discussing living options! I was thinking Los Soul Beach."
"Yeah, Yeah. She was gonna scam you into a time-share. Now, you are going to go back and accept Mr. Koenma's offer."
"..No."
She stopped and, after letting him go, she asked "Why don't you want to return back to life. I know too many souls who would kill for an opportunity to live once more."
Tetsuya, holding his ear, was silent and contemplated his answer.
"I... don't have anything to go back to, if I am being honest. Even if my life wasn't meant to end today, there isn't anything or anyone waiting for me. I don't have any friends, my parents died when I was young, the grandparents that raised me died a few years ago so my godparents are now my legal guardians, though I never live or talk with them. And, my life was just... eh? It wasn't bad or good, it was just a life, I guess."
