Chapter 2
Getting ready
Silence. Suddenly a cold breeze entered the church. An eerie silence fell over the church. No one said a word as an unsettling feeling settled over everyone. The hairs on the back of my neck rose, prepared. Goose bumps covered my body.
I looked around searching every corner.
No.
I refuse to believe it as I stare into the cat-like eyes staring back at me.
Him.
He will ruin this. Of Corse he is here. I quickly snap my head back to everyone in the pews, but no one had noticed the people in the shadows. People were starting to panic; I could see it in their faces. Everyone started murmuring suddenly before the doors crash open with a big thud. At the same time, I look up
"Damn those wedding planners".
~~~
One hour and a half earlier
As I walk through the lush, green forest. Birds chirp in the trees and deer look around.
I think through everything, planning. As I walk along the autumn leaves crunch under my boots, the cold autumn breeze ruffles through my black, curly, usually unruly hair.
I sigh.
There's nothing else to do now except get to the church on time and hope everything goes according to plan.
~~~
I enter the church via a tunnel that connects to a trapdoor in a room round the back of the church.
I slowly enter the main part of the church.
The pews in rows, soldiers ready, but not knowing what's to happen next.
I look up, Bonstraliea, standing on a balcony (up high close to the ceiling especially made for this occasion) Looking like a stone statue of a guardian angel with him dressed in all white.
He nods at me.
I turn and notice Caibre getting into position in a tent in the children's area. They are great with children and act like a child most of the time. So, they blend in perfectly there. But they are a strong aspect in our group. Caibre can sneak around easily thanks to their stature, and they can distract people. All in all, they are a child that acts like an adult 50% of the time.
Robin, Michelle and Donstali are somewhere in the church preparing the behind the scenes to this wedding.
Rahin (who is half retired from the group) would be joining us later during the wedding.
~~~
I hear cars starting to arrive and conversations creeping closer. The voices of those gossiping mothers rattling through my head.
"I don't know how she stands their company" I mutter to myself as I take my cue to get into position.
Just as I sink into the shadows the doors burst open with the hustle and bustle of the guests arriving. Impatiently I stand waiting for everyone to get into position, staring right at the groom.
If stares could kill then my stare would have blown him into smithereens.
"Jasper" I spit out his name, my worst enemy.
Him and his stupid hair he doesn't deserve to be here, he doesn't deserve to live. Not after what he did. But of course, no one can say no to those deep blue eyes. There are only a few people I know that don't fall under his spell.
He's a piece of shit that's what I say.
Well in a few minutes Isabel will arrive then the big finale. Jasper won't know what hit him.
I let these thoughts consume me as a wild Cheshire cat grin covers my face, my eyes glinting, with a hint of mischief hidden within them.
As they say eyes are a window to the soul.
