Puppet's POV
I stretch out my fingers, enjoying having full use of them once again. That naive little boy has such a strong grip on this mind of ours. He doesn't understand I just want to protect him. The moment I saw this Jeremy guy, I knew he would only be trouble. But poor Marionette fell for the bastard anyways. Now I have to clean up his mess before the day is out. That's how long I can keep a hold of our mind.
There are footsteps approaching my tree, so I quickly put our mask back on. When I turn, I see a little girl with curly blonde hair staring at me with bright blue eyes. She's only three or four and she strikes a distant memory, one that cuts me to my core.
"C-can you hep me?" She asks. "I-I'm lost." Her eyes are full of tears and my heart stirs.
"Of course," I hear myself say. What? Did Marionette do that? No. He's still in his corner. Then, was it...? I feel her small hand take mine as she smiles up at me, her tears quickly drying.
We start down a path I think is the one Mari took us down. As we walk down the leafy green path images float up to the surface of my mind. Images of a little girl, a lot like this one, staring up at me and calling... calling me brother.
"My name's Sara," the little girl says, breaking through my thoughts. "What's yours?"
"My name's Kaden," I say without thinking. Kaden? Where did that come from? Then it hits me. That was our name from our first life. The life we have hidden away. Memories come back to me all at once. My sister Sheila, my father, the knife, father's terrible purple grin. The horrible truth, that my father, Vincent, killed me and years later all of those children, which included my baby sister. Anger is boiling through my veins and confusion is clouding my mind.
"Kaden," comes a little voice from next to me. I turn and see... Sheila? But how? I guess it doesn't matter as long as we're together. I kneel down and hug her close to me.
"I love you sissy," I say. But Sheila struggles against my arms.
"Let go," she says. "I can see my mommy and daddy. Let go!" I turn and see a man and woman, and I sigh. They're not our parents, but they are coming towards us. We'll have to move if we want to stay together.
"C'mon," I say, picking her up and sprinting into the forest. She was screaming so loudly I had to put my hand over her mouth or we'd definitely get caught. I run and run, and eventually I can't hear the sounds of pursuit anymore. I wasn't watching where I was going and I ran right into a very familiar chest.
I just wanted to say at the end here, thank you for all of the kind comments. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Who did he run into? I know. You, my friends, will have to wait and find out in the next chapter.
Luv u all~
