I woke very early almost unable to sleep because of my nervousness. Today was the day that we'd make our move to the boat and likely reach land before night. I sat up in bed with squinty eyes hardly able to open them at this hour. I looked to the small window we had and the sun was hardly up but I could see the sunrise just leaking out.
I looked to Jun and he was laid on his side with his hands curled into his own body. He was peaceful and I smiled softly at how his hair was sloppily pulled back into a ponytail. It was just now at the length where he either needed to pull it back or cut it because it was getting in the way. He had been messing with it all night to get it pulled back correctly but it never looked the way he wanted it. Now his hair was sprawled out on the bed in a mess while a small portion of it remained pulled back.
I rubbed my eyes and slowly pushed the sheets back. Soon enough my stomach was going to start rumbling for food because I didn't each much last night. My mind was other places and food just didn't sound appetizing. I pushed the sheets back and slipped my feet into a pair of slippers and grabbed my coat from the chair by the desk.
I pulled it over my shoulders not even bothering to get dressed. Normally everyone was super formal and got properly dressed but I knew no one from Ebisu would tolerate that. They were infamous for several men, Ollie included, showing up to breakfast with no shirt and bare feet. Surely no one would be that informal here much less with this weather but I didn't bother with getting fully dressed. Breakfast would start being served by the time I made it down there for the early risers.
I slowly went down the stairs feeling my sore leg. I was well aware it wasn't good, but I was getting slowly better. I just hoped it would be better in the next week because I knew combat was only nearing closer and I needed to get practice in. I made it to the food hall and saw a few others in there but to my surprise I saw Ollie and Akira. They were sat at a table both smiling and talking over their food. They looked much to awake and lively at this hour.
I grabbed a plate and thanked Jo and he gave me firm nod. He had been quiet since Uba went into rest but I could see in his eyes he was struggling with something underneath. He served the girl behind me and I walked over to the two and they smiled as they saw me coming up.
"Morning Makio." Ollie said with a smile.
"You two are up early." I pointed out.
"Big morning I guess. I was so excited I couldn't sleep." Ollie said sounding giddy.
"Excited is not a word I'd use." Akira said with a small laugh. "I think nerve wracking more like."
"Today should be uneventful until we get there. After that I've got some explaining to do to Luna." I said with a nervous laugh.
"How's that going to go over?" Ollie asked knowing that I had mentioned that I wasn't a fan of her as mush as she was of me. Needless to say we definitely but heads on our previous encounter.
"Uh, I got this whole thing pretty planned out but that parts going to be a little... improvised." I said avoiding eye contact.
"She should be thankful we're saving their asses in the first place." Ollie said egotistically.
"Ollie." Akira snapped swatting at him.
"Maybe but we need them to fight too." I said shakingy head.
"I'm sure you'll be able to convince them." Ollie said. "You've got two whole Temples backing you up. They'd be insane to reject you."
"Yeah I know. I'm not all that worried about it. I just want to finalize a game plan with Jun and Luna once we get there." I said honestly. "It'll come together."
