Jester POV

The muffled sounds of Dumbledore's speech filled my ears as I sat in the great hall. I was in my spot as a new professor, Defense Against the Dark Arts. I didn't really apply for this position, Dumbledore came to me. I know very little about the subject, but still it's enough to get me by. That's what he told me anyway. I looked over next to me to the long black haired man who sat with his arms crossed and a stern look on his face. I made a little snort and turned my head away quickly. Why was he so serious? It's like he's worried all of the time. Weird. I thought to myself as I covered my mouth with my hand. Then I shut myself up. I looked behind me and his eyes were right on me. He didn't move his head at all to look though, which was scary. I cleared my throat under my breath and brushed my vest off, then rested my hands in my lap and wandered my eyes away from him.

Snape POV

I shifted my eyes forward again, wondering why he was laughing at me. Was it my appearance? I sighed in arrogance through my nose and kept my arms firmly crossed. It's always the new staff members. Especially the Defense Against the Dark Arts ones. Why don't I ever just get the position? I felt his eyes wander onto me again and I actually turned my head toward him this time. And since Dumbledore was speaking, I decided to keep my voice down. I whispered, "What is it that you want? Why do you keep looking my way?" I gave him a frighteningly stern look to try and get the answer out of him, then raised my eyebrow. He only replied with an 'Ah-' and a lip twitch though, and then he looked away from me again. God how annoying he was. I breathed for a moment and turned my attention back to the crowd.

Jester POV

I couldn't hold it in. Why the heck is everything about him so funny. I bit my lip to hold in my laughter, then breathed to calm down and leaned back in my chair. These were kinda comfortable.

Once Dumbledore had finished speaking, I looked over at the new students. Aw! They're so tiny! I smiled to myself and watched them all go up and about to get sorted into their own houses. Man, I wish I had gone to this school. I went to Durmstrang, though fitting in there for me is super difficult. After all, I have always enjoyed doing card magic and dice magic and eating fire. Haha, definitely the last part. Oh my, I can teach my students fire resilience spells and they can learn to eat fire too! Though...is that really Defensive? Oh well, I'll find out later.

Dumbledore started to dismiss the students to their assigned dormitories and I stood up, but to my luck the funny looking guy was stepping on the end of my vest. I fell back down and landed on my butt. Damn it!-

Snape POV

I didn't even notice I had my foot on his...long vest? He wears...odd clothing. No wonder it was in my way. I grumbled and helped him up, then hurried off to my quarters, avoiding that whole situation.

I stormed down the hall, my cloak flowing behind me, but god I couldn't avoid him. I heard his heels swiftly chasing behind me and the swishing of his vest. I stopped suddenly and turned my head to look at him. "What do you want? I'm heading to bed, make it quick. Also, Dumbledore forgot to introduce you, you're that unimportant." I scowled at him and looked down at his oddly fluffy hair.

Jester POV

I smiled up at him, mostly because I couldn't handle his face. "Well", I put my hands on my hips and shifted my weight to my left leg. "I wanted to just...thank you for helping me up. That's all. Also! You ask my name?" I brought my feet together and stood up straight, then held my right arm up and held my left to my chest. I bowed, "Courte Jester." I smiled and lifted my head to look at him. God, I enjoy trying to impress people. But my face turned disappointed as his face looked as annoyed as ever. And then I stood back up. "Yours?" He responded by muttering 'Snape' under his breath and speed walking away like he did before. As he left I slapped my hand on my face and dragged it down, feeling utterly disappointed.

I then moped off to my already unpacked dormitory and plopped down on the bed, slipping my slightly heeled shoes off at the foot and covering my eyes with my palms. Man, this is going to be a long year. I hope at least the students find me entertaining?
