The sun was setting down, threatening to become nighttime. I looked at the clock, wondering why Alexander left. He said he was going for a walk, but it's been months, and I'm still waiting for his arrival. I sat down on my cozy purple mattress that my friend Indi got. I observed other terrestrial animals that had been unforeseen for generations. Suddenly, they were allowed into our kingdom. Yes, kingdom.

When Alexander left, the rest of the herd was confused. After days of searching for him and waiting, they made an immediate decision: I was going to be the new leader of their wolf herd.

"I wish Alexander returned," I wished every night for months until I eventually gave up. He wasn't going to return. I cried, knowing that was the last time I saw his presence.

The rain started pouring, melting fires and making a blurry scenery in the windows. I looked out, seeing the rain pour out. Kivara had recently joined our herd and had been accepted personally by me and my headmistress, Athena. Her beauty couldn't be described in words. She was a red wolf (which is rare), and most of us are gray wolves. She normally wore outfits like blue shirts or white shirts. They both suited her well.

"Kivara, could you please bring me my cup of tea?"

"Yes, Kassi. One second!" Kivara went to the counter beside my desk and grabbed a cup of tea. She walked back, being careful to not tip it over, "Do you need any ice? Or just hot tea?"

"Hot tea's fine," I answered as Kivara set down the mug. I plastered a smile before Kivara walked away. Then Athena came in without knocking and sat down.

"I have good news for you!" Athena said, "And also bad news."

"Tell me the good news," I said. The rain still pouring hard.

"Alexander is back!" She cheered.

I frowned, "What do you mean he's back?"

"Back from his 'adventure'" Athena quoted, "He wanted to see you."

"Show him the way out," I kept frowning. The past was still a black spot inside my heart, knowing he left us and how much he hurt me. Why would I want him back here?

"Haven't you been waiting anxiously for his arrival?" Athena asked as she trotted inside the house, which I'd told her not to do, but I'd given up on repeating the same rule.

I don't want to see him. His face, or any part of his body. He betrayed not only me but his entire herd. He left because I blushed. He left all of us hurt inside. Saying sorry won't fix the black hole inside of my heart. As much as it hurt me, I had to let him in. At least I deserved to know why he left us, "Never mind," I slapped my head, "Bring him in. He owes me and everyone else an explanation. But first I want him to explain to me."

Athena did as she was told, stood up, and opened the door, Alexander's tall, fierce body was standing in the doorway, he complied and nodded to Athena as he entered the room. Fur falling to his brown pupils. His shadow moved along with him. I stared at his newly grown abs, but I couldn't fall for him again. He left us after all. Athena slammed the door shut. Alexander sat down and looked at me with my blue pupils. He smiled, but I quickly made sure he shoved that smile away. He kept looking, and I kept thinking about where to start. There were too many things to discuss. One thing for sure was he wasn't welcomed into the herd. Maybe he can be a guest!

"So..." Alexander sighed, breaking the silence I was enjoying, "This is a little awkward."

Alexander's grey wolf hair was starting to become a little white around his ears. I stared a little while more before finally finding the first topic to discuss.

"There are many things you need to be informed of," I started saying, while his eyes kept concentrating on mine, "First of all, you leave us, was real harm. It changed us as a group. Second, ever since you left, your title of 'leader' has been permanently removed and transferred to me. Third of all, you aren't accepted here. Maybe as a guest or something."

His smile soon faded and it turned into a prolonged frown, "I haven't done anything, though. Why would I not be welcomed back?"

"Why did you leave us?" I asked, ignoring his question.

"I told you I'd go out for a walk," Alexander explained.

"Yes, but it's been 5 years. And I waited and waited for you to come back home, and you never did until now!" I cried, "I barely wanted to see you, but at least I deserve an explanation. Don't I?"

"You do..." Alexander sighed as he scratched his torso, "Okay fine, here it goes," sigh, "I left because I didn't want to be in the same place where my mother died. It's been 5 years were I finally built up the courage to come back. And is this how I'm welcomed? With a nonsensed meeting?"

"Well, it's good to hear an explanation coming out of your mouth," I laughed, then quickly went back to frowning as my fur began to get in the way, "You may leave now."

"What? But I returned after five years and now I need to leave again?" He complained.

"No," I shook my head, "Just go out and see how this place has changed. This place will make you regret everything you've done with your life up to this point."

"But..." He sighed and retreated from the bedroom.

What an odd explanation. I mean, his mother indeed died. But that didn't give him a right to leave. Athena returned to my office and asked me everything that happened. She also told me she'd partially eavesdropped on our conversation. I explained everything to her.

"He could've come up with a better excuse than that," Athena reacted as she lay down on the white mattress, "But you should speak to him."

"I already did," I answered, "He thinks he's welcomed back into the herd automatically."

"I don't make great suggestions," Athena began, a pen rolling beside her, "But I think you should give him a chance."

"This decision is for me to take. I appreciate your concerns and worries, but I'll make this decision on my own. Of course, I'll always tell you what I decided later on," I told her.

"Tell me immediately after you've decided it," Athena said, "Make your best version out there. Love ya, gotta go."

Athena left my office as Alexander reentered the office. He desperately wanted an answer to my reasoning. Letting him stay here in this herd will only make my pain worse. And that's the last thing I want right now.

"Didn't I tell you to leave?" I reassured.

"Yeah, but I didn't care," He answered as his fur straightened.

"You were born to not care. Were you?" I asked furrowing my eyebrow.

"Maybe," He made a devilish smirk, "You'll never know."

"I have my ways!" I sparked, "Goodbye. Leave my office," I repeated.

"Fine," He said slamming the door behind him.

I heard muffled screams and I looked out the window.

Queen Azareth?
