The rest of the day came and went with little incident. Crash, Jimbo and Lucy patrolled the streets from above on their brand new vehicles that Jimbo and Claire had created. They resembled motorbikes but had no wheels and flew through the air at moderate speeds. While the Dyno-morphs were weary about going out during the day, Lucy deemed it safe to use these vehicles as there were similar vehicles on the market that were popular among raucous teenagers and used by police officers so they wouldn't elicit anymore than a quick glance by anyone who cared to notice them soaring overhead, not to mention Jimbo had made a point of making them as quiet as possible when powered on. Only a mugger or two needed to be thwarted on this quieter-than-average day. The mild reactions of the people they helped truly surprised the Dyno-morphs.
"Whoa, I didn't know the police trained big lizards to help them!" One man said as he thanked them. The other was an elderly woman who was as blind as a mole and didn't even seem to realize she was interacting with giant talking reptiles when she thanked them.
Claire's day was much less exciting. As normal as any other day for her. After servicing someone's car, she realised that the sole of her left boot had become detached at the front. It was no surprise, she had been wearing this particular pair for a few years now. She Took them off and retrieved a new pair from her tool cabinet that she had bought in advance before taking the old pair down into the basement. Gill heard her coming down the stairs and poked his head out of the water he rested in, perhaps expecting food. Claire looked at him with a smile. "It's your lucky day, hon. Here's a new chew toy for ya." She said as she threw the old, tattered boots over to him and chuckled as he began gnawing on them and growling aggressively as if he were a dog mauling a smaller animal.
Crash, Jimbo and Lucy soon returned from their patrol and, over dinner, Crash and Jimbo told Gill about a load of exciting crimes that he completely missed out on stopping. Of course, they only stopped a couple of run-of-the-mill muggers but they weren't about to tell Gill that. Lucy let them have their fun with the tylosaurus for a few minutes but eventually forced them to come clean.
"Wait, you jokers were lying the entire time?" Gill snapped.
"We weren't lying," Jimbo defended. "We were just massaging reality."
"Massaging rear ends nothin'!" Gill hissed. "You say somethin' that ain't true, you're lyin'!"
"I couldn't agree more, Gill." Lucy said, slapping a hand onto Gill's bruised arm, making him wince in pain. "I appreciate a good joke, boys but we are a team and on this team we do not keep secrets or tell lies to one another. Frankly Jimbo, you should know better. You know how gullible Gill can be and how easily triggered he is."
"That's true enough," Jimbo replied. "Sorry, Gill."
"So how are you feeling by the way? Any better?" Crash asked.
"Top notch as always, my man!" Gill answered.
"I'm glad to hear it." Lucy said. "You'll be okay to come on patrol with us tomorrow."
"I'm not sure he's fit to fly a jetbike, Lucy." Jimbo said with concern.
"I agree, that's why he'll be riding with me on the back of mine." Lucy replied, looking at Gill.
"But Lucyyyyyy..." Gill whined, which only resulted in her growling angrily and showing both rows of teeth, a sight that shook all three of the boys to their core. "I mean...understood, boss." he said in submission and Lucy's snarl changed to a look of satisfaction.
"Good boy." She said and everyone had just about finished their burgers.
"Now, I know it's not late, and you two, Crash and Jimbo are fine to stay up but Gill, given your condition and your incessant whining, I want you in bed early. You need plenty of rest." Gill opened his mouth to whine once more but stopped himself as he saw Lucy's eyes narrow. "That means now, Gill." She said firmly, standing and pointing a clawed finger to the basement stairs. Gill stood and stomped grumpily down the stairs just as he did before. "And no slamming that door!" She called and listened, only to hear the sound of the basement door slamming shut loudly. Lucy growled, ready to charge down the stairs after him in annoyance until Claire gently grabbed her arm.
"Don't rise to it, hun. He's just doing it to get to you." The human said and Lucy sat back down, caressing her temples again.
"Infuriating male. The next time someone kicks his miserable behind it'll be me, I swear."
"Would you like me to reprimand him, Lucy?" Jimbo asked as he rose to his feet and Lucy shook her head. "I'll deal with him in the morning." She answered.
"Alright." he replied. "Come on, Crash, Dino Duke will be on any minute." The triceratops said and they both hurried to the living room to watch their cartoon. Lucy couldn't help but smile despite her frustration with Gill.
"It's like having three children, isn't it? Right down to one of them being a complete brat."
"Yeah, they're so sweet. Well...Gill is in his own way at least." Claire replied. "Don't worry, you can give him a good tongue lashing when he gets up."
The morning came and started as usual for all in the city. Except for three brand new employees of Dr. X-Ray who were excited to start their first day on their new job. As three oil tankers drove down the Ringling Bridge in single file, the driver of the leading truck was forced to slam the breaks on as something caught his eye in front of him. "What the-" He stopped his vehicle as he used his radio to communicate with his fellow drivers. "Hang on, fellas. We got some jokers on the road blockin' the way!" The stocky man got out of his truck and approached three SUVs that were parked in the middle of the bridge, blocking the gangway completely. By the time he got close enough to the huge jeeps to see who was sitting in them, it was too late for him to turn around and get back in his vehicle. "Hey what do you guys think you're doing? We gotta get this stuff over to-" He stopped talking as soon as the middle jeep's door opened and a huge red triceratops stepped out, towering over him at around eight feet tall and grabbed the cowering man by his shirt, lifting him up to her face with one hand.
"This cargo now belongs to us, little man. You and your friends would be wise to hand it over without a fight. I have no problem with harming you." She said, a deep and booming Russian accent leaving her fanged mouth.
"Hey, no problem, toots. It's all yours! But I can't talk to my colleagues without my radio." He answered.
"That's not a problem. My own colleagues are on their way to give them the same message." She said with a smile. "Scorch! Livewire! The other trucks, quickly!" She barked at the other jeeps and two other Dyno-morphs stepped out of them, a fiery orange dilophosaurus and a black velociraptor with bright yellow stripes all over his body. The two ran quickly over to the other trucks.
"Surrender your vehicle if you know what's good for you!" Livewire hissed as he opened the second truck while brandishing two long electrified arm-mounted whips.
"Don't make me roast ya, meat bag!" Scorch yelled at the remaining driver, while pointing some kind of arm-mounted hose at him that was connected to a tank on his back. Not wanting to find out what that tank was loaded with, the driver climbed out of the truck and joined his colleagues at the side of the road.
The triceratops then lifted the jeeps they arrived in with nothing but her own strength and threw them over the edge of the bridge into the water below so that they could drive the trucks through and the three bandits commandeered a tanker each to drive back to Dr. X-Ray's laboratory. Livewire took the truck at the back but before he even managed to get it moving, he stopped when he heard a thump, as if something heavy had just landed on the roof of the vehicle. "The heck was that?" He asked himself before a long blue tail smashed through the windscreen. Before he could react, the tail wrapped itself around his neck and pulled him through the broken glass and he found himself hanging face to face with the tail's owner, a tylosaurus with long blonde hair who was more muscular and considerably taller than him, a sight that almost made the surprised raptor tremble.
"Yo, didn't mum ever tell ya that taking things that don't belong to you ain't right? You'll get a lump of coal in your stocking, y'know." He cracked before throwing his target off of the truck and onto the tarmac below.
