The siren screamed, signalling the stampede of eager year sevens and nerdy year 8s. I hung back. I trudge to the big red doors the symbolization of the time they were once red before they were graffitied and repainted black. they were red the time Danny Divinoi replaced the sprinklers with red paint and the time he changed the bell noise to YOU ARE ALL SUSPENDED. Both times me and Corey had run out of this back exit to the wrong way up tree that bloomed in winter and died in summer. Corey had left halfway through year 7, my only friend from primary, other than Lula who became the pik-me girl she always was.
My phone pings, Kaila, the queen be who adopted me after my glow up at the end of year 7, she also is probably the girl who downloaded find my child on my app. My phone alerts another two pings reading; yup and I'll be there from Poppy and Yimt ( the oddest name ) these are her minions responding to bathroom NOW.
I decide to partake in their shenanigans. These girls are idiots, but at least they know how to take care of their friends. I see Yimt in the hallway and dodge her before ambling along corridor f7 much longer but worth it. I see a wave of elbow length blond hair , Kaila.
This girl is a born model, not too tall yet just above average , teal blue eyes, now red lips , her frame is like a barbie dolls and she has managed to make our uniform... well her skirt goes up to her thighs opposed to over knee length ,the baggy jumper has been tightened to reflect her build and she wears almost see through tights.
"Chi!" she shouts oh damn she's seen me.
"Hiiiiiiiiii." I say purposely trailing on
" Lets go." she commands grabbing my hand and pulling me to the girls bathroom. It smells of cotton candy, poppy pulls a pink vape from her mouth and blows leaving me with the sickly smell.
Their conversation drones on for like 5 minutes before we part. I run out the big red doors and climb the wrong way up tree a I grab the pen knife from my pocket and carve a slit into the tree before dashing the bus stop and miss my bus.
I wait for like five minutes before checking my phone to see my bus is half an hour late. I run grab a lime bike ( an electric bike you can rent ) and speed home. I knock the bike 3 houses down, my mum hates the things, and run to the door.
I lean against the door frame searching for keys , I fall , the door is open...
I amble inside poking around as carefully as a meercat before slipping and falling. Everything hurts, i curl into a pile telling myself that it will ware off. When my limbs stop burning I turn over. To see a body beside me...
