Night
After making the children sleep, Mariam took a deep breath and walked towards the garden with heavy steps. She stambled and was about to fall but was held by Ali. Mariam,s heart raced. Ali pulled her back. She looked at him and breathed deeply.
He made her stand and looked at her.
Tum har waqt girti hi rehti ho kya?
Ali asked crossing his arms across his chest.
Hmmm.
Mariam pretended to think.
Nahin toh woh bas hum Kuch soch rahe thy aur....
Mariam started to explain herself while Ali looked at her wide eyed and he burst out laughing. Mariam stopped and gave him a look.
Aap hans kyun rahe hain?
Mariam asked out of confusion.
Ali covered his mouth with his palm to control his laughter and looked at her. Mariam smiled seeing him laughing.
Maine aapse bas ek sawal poocha tha baat shuru karne ke liye. Per aap toh.
He stopped and looked at her. She smiled in embarrassment.
Kheer.
Mariam said smiling softly. She went towards the kitchen to get the kheer.
She came after 10 minutes with 2 bowls of kheer.
Kheer.
Ali smiled and took a bowl. He ate a bite of the kheer.
Bahot achi hai.
Ali said genuinely smiling at her.
She smiled brightly and looked at him for a moment and then She looked ahead at the stars scattered around in the sky and smiled.
Ali ek sawal kar sakte hain aapse hum?
Mariam asked, she was hesitant and looked at him.
Ali gave her a comforting smile. She smiled in return.
Zaroor.
Ali said with a soft smile. Mariam took a deep breath and looked at him. She hesitantly brought her hand near his and kept her hand over his. Ali looked at her out of surprise.
Rehnuma....

They gazed into each other,s eyes. Mariam's eyes held pain and an unknown emotion while Ali,s eyes were filled with Innocence and longing.
Marjina kon hai Ali?
Mariam asked hesitantly. Ali looked at her for a moment and smiled.
Pata nahin. Per yeh naam bahot apna sa lagta hai.
Ali said with a soft smile. Mariam tried to control her smile hearing him. Her heart raced. She looked at him controlling her tears and gulped the huge lump that formed in her throat.
Shehzadi Mariam ab main ek sawal karun aapse?
Ali asked looking at her.
Mariam smiled for a moment but frowned upon hearing shehzadi from him.
Shehzadi nahin.... Mariam.
Mariam said. Ali was about to object but stopped hearing her.
Aap humein Mariam bulayenge.
Mariam said softly. Ali looked at her for a moment and nodded his head.
Per shehzadi
Unko hum sambhal leinge. samne nahi lekin akele main
Mariam.
Mariam added with a soft smile.
Mariam
Ali called out. He was hesitant but still smiled.
Mariam smiled brightly. Her name never sounded so beautiful, so sweet before. She looked at Ali and blinked her eyes. She squeezed his hand gently to assure him. He smiled feeling assured and sighed in relief.
