Waking

POV: Natsu

Ugh it feels like my lungs are trying to explode. My throat burned, my head throbbed, and my stomach felt like I just got off a train. What even happened? Then I heard "Hurry up flame brain wake up." Was that Gray? I tried opening my eyes, but the light penetrated my eyes and pounded into my head. This made me groan, which started a chain reaction of my throat feeling like I'm breathing daggers and then a violent round of painful choking. Which in turn made me gag, sit up, and empty all my contents all over myself. YUCK.

After tossing my cookies, I grabbed my head in my hands. I felt a hand on my shoulder and heard his voice again. "I'll grab you a change of clothes and then we can get you in the shower and you can have my bed." Slowly I opened my eyes to see Gray walking away. He was here. That's surprising, I was expecting Lucy or Wendy.

Then I looked down to see happy hugging a clean part of me, tears streaming down his face. "Natsu you're okay! We were so worried. I thought you weren't going to make it. Natsu!" He sobbed into me.

They thought I wouldn't make it? What happened? All I remember is food, a fight, and a carriage. "I'm fi-" I tried to say I was fine, but talking just made me go into another coughing fit. My entire body was full of agony.

"Natsu!" Happy yelled worried.

"Take it easy." I looked over to see the ice wizard walk over to me. He got right next to me and picked me up. He didn't seem to even mind the mess all over me. Wait is he going take a bath with me? I mean he'll have to now. "Don't over do it Natsu, after I clean you I'll get you in bed and I'll explain all I can."

I nod, but even that hurt my head. Eventually I just closed my eyes and leaned my head into his cool chest. Then the next thing I know is I'm getting placed into the bed. No! I wanted to see him give me a bath.... I guess it's not meant to be. His cool hand caressed my face. If I didn't feel like I was going be sick again, I would probably think this is bliss.

I guess he knew I was going to get sick, because the next thing I hear is "ice make bucket" He helped me sit up, and then boom the ice bucket is filled. He dumped out the bucket and came back, putting an icy rag on my forehead.

Happy jumped on my chest and curled into a cute ball. He really is my most loyal partner. I don't know what I'd do without him. Then I looked back at the surprising caretaker. Gray was cleaning the other bed, probably for himself to sleep tonight. I wish he wouldn't, it would give him an excuse to lay with me.... Once he finished, he came back to my side. "I guess I owe you an explanation don't I?"

I nod, I want to make a snarky comment, atlas it would just throw me into another coughing fit, and it's not worth it. He sat on the side of the bed and gently stroked my hair. His fingers twirling and massaging around my scalp. It felt so good. Then Gray started telling me about how Happy had come to get him, and how they think I was cursed by a demon. Although he was being humble and didn't say it, it sounded like he stayed with me the whole time. I feel honored. Grays a great friend, but normally when I'm hurt, he just makes fun of me. Then again, he's never seen me on death's door before.

"I'm just glad you seem to be recovering now." He was smiling. I wish this man knew how much he really meant to me. He's probably going to go for Juvia, I don't stand a chance, but I wish I did.

After a few minutes, Gray started walking over to his bed and hopped in. I guess caretaker Gray is over until morning.

I rolled over multiple times, but I just couldn't get comfortable. Between coughing and sneezing, there was no way I could get any rest. All I wanted to do was sleep. After sitting up from a coughing fit, I felt another ice rag get gently placed on the back of my neck.

Looking over, I see the ice wizard creating another rag. "Thanks" I mumble, but my talking was really hoarse.

"Just shut up and get some sleep pinky." A glint of worry crossed passed his eyes.

That made me smile. After that I leaned into his bare chest. It was cool but felt so nice. I could almost swear I could feel him thinking. The gears were definitely turning. I wonder what goes on in his little icy brain?

Sleep. It's what I wanted, but then I wouldn't get to enjoy this cute moment. Then he surprised me even more than what he already had done today. He got in the bed with me and pulled me closely to his chest. Well if I was going to sleep before, it's not happening now. My heart was trying to pound out of my chest and my mind was going Mach speed.

His body was cool and refreshing, he created a slight chill in order to calm my fever. Man this guy's awesome. I closed my eyes and tried very hard to keep my mind clear. I didn't need to think about his tough abs, or how close I was to his.... Yup he's hot.
