She walked swiftly along the path
As the day was bright and sunny
The stream bubbled and gurgled
Along as the birds sung their melodies
Warmth from the summer sun seeped
Deeply into her skin causing a smile
To spread on her lips in happiness
She looked down and lightly traced
The pattern of the flowers on her shirt
With her fingertips feeling the breeze
Blow softly over her arms and legs
As she moved again she was unaware
In the sky, far in the distance, a cloud
Small and white floated, closer, closer
Without meaning in this part of the wood
Time was neither friend nor foe
Suddenly, she felt a new presence
She turned around and there stood a man
"Don't be afraid," the man said quietly
I have been watching you from afar
And was drawn here by your joy and love
He continued, "you summoned me
by tracing the flowers on your shirt as
they're magic you see."
At his words, she looked down quickly
To see the sparkles across her chest
"I was a cloud in the sky sent to watch over
And protect, yet always from afar you see."
She could scarcely believe her ears as the shirt
Had come to her from a shop she found
She drew closer to him as he drew to her
"I had no idea of what I had done." she
Softly offered, "yet I ask one thing of you
to test and see if you are true."
"Ask away and I'll grant anything in my power"
He smiled and waited to see what may come
"I wish to fly with you and see below from above"
She opened her heart to the newfound friend
"This I can grant, but you must take my hand."
As he stretched out his arms, she wrapped
Hers tightly around his waist. "Lest I fall, I trust
you to keep me safe." She said
He wrapped his arms around her tightly
And in a flash they flew higher and higher
Until the whole world beneath them
Looked unreal in its majesty and calm
"I cannot believe what we have done."
She exclaimed breathlessly, "I believe
now you are truly who you say." And her
Heart grew in belief and wonder that day
Once on the ground, the man disappeared
Yet to the sky she looked as she slowly
Traced her chest, now knowing the secret
That he was at her behest
