Chocolates

It was Valentine's Day and most of us were just getting back to Hogwarts after visiting Hogsmeade. I was walking with my twin brother, Harry, and Ron and Hermione.

"I just don't get why Cho hates that I hang out with you so much." Harry was saying to Hermione.

"That's because she's jealous, you bloody idiot." I chipped in.

"Of Hermione?" Harry asked.

"Yes!" Ron, Hermione, and I all shouted at him.

I swear my brother is the absolute biggest idiot when it comes to girls, probably because he's too absorbed in saving the wizarding world and taking orders from Dumbledore. Well, one of us had to do it I guess, and it probably wasn't going to be me.

Later on in the evening, I was sitting in the library drinking a cup of tea and reading. I found reading in the library more relaxing, it was quieter and there were less distractions around, overall it felt like a very comforting atmosphere. The book I was currently reading was particularly smutty, so I lifted my attention every so often to make sure no one was reading over my shoulder. Clearly I wasn't doing a very good job at keeping a lookout, because suddenly I heard a familiar voice in my ear,

"Well that's certainly a bit scandalous, isn't it?"

I slammed my book shut, earning me a dirty look from the librarian, my face went beet red.

"Malfoy, what the fuck?" I hissed.

He smirks and hands me a little red box, "sorry to startle you, but I got you something. They're chocolates, I got them in Hogsmeade earlier today."

I retrieve the box from him curiously, "and you got them for me...?"

"Isn't that what I just said?"

"Yes, but-"

"Do you not want them?" He asked.

"No, yes, I do. I just- you just surprised me, that's all. Uh- thank you."

"You're welcome, Potter. I'll let you get back to your... book." He smirked again.

I could feel my face burning from embarrassment. How much of that page had he read? I didn't want to think about it, that'd just embarrass me more. Out of curiosity (and with a tiny bit of caution), I opened the small red box of chocolates by untying the pink silk bow holding it shut. On top of a pile of chocolates was a note written in his slanted handwriting,

'y/n. Meet me at the astronomy tower tonight at ten. - Draco.'

Smiling a bit to myself, I folded the note up and put it in the pocket of my sweatpants. Just then, Ron came and sat down next to me.

"Oooh! Are those chocolates? Can I have some?" He got a dirty look from the librarian. "Oops. Sorry." He whispered.

Giggling, I handed him the box.

Stuffing his mouth with about three chocolates at once he asked, "who got you chocolates?"

I hesitated for a moment, I knew my friends didn't get on well with Draco Malfoy. "Uh- nobody."

Ron gave me a funny look, "oh come on, you know I won't tell."

"Knowing you, you'd probably let it slip by accident, Ron." I smiled so he knew I was joking around with him. But we all knew it was true, he had a habit of letting secrets slip by accident.

Ron sighed, "yeah, you're probably right."

"Hey, I wonder what Malfoy's doing right now." Ron says out of nowhere.

Startled, I ask, "what? Malfoy? Why do you care?" Was I that bad at keeping a secret? How could he know it was Draco who gave me the chocolates when I hadn't even said his name?
