"It can't be... I killed him, I know I did..."
The policeman looked at her, his eyebrows raising. "You what?"
I laughed anxiously and covered Taco's mouth. "She pinned him down. He had a knife and stabbed himself."
The guilt of lying gnawed at my stomach, but I ignored it and smiled at the cop. "Y-You know, she's been through something. Give her a break."
He stared at Taco warily before returning to his conversation with OJ.
I grabbed her hand and led her away from causing anything else, instead dragging her to the couch where she collapsed and put her hands on her face.
I sat by her, wanting to say so much but not knowing how to word it. Instead, I simply hugged her tight and whispered, "It'll all be okay. Someone probably wanted to go beat up on his body some more; it's going to be okay-"
"Will you stop saying that?" Taco yelled, jumping off of the couch and facing me in tears. "Could you, I don't know, stop preaching facts to me? It's not what I need right now!"
I reached my hand out to her. "You know he's dead, so why are you freaking out?"
"Because it's normal!" she screamed. A lot of people were turning to face us now— I didn't notice, nor did I care. Taco continued.
"You keep being logical when I don't need that right now! I need... I don't know! I just don't need this right now!"
I looked her in the eyes and calmly said, "It's going to be okay. You know that."
She looked back at me as if I'd said something crazy. "How do you know that? He has survived so much, who knows if he survived that, if he's right around any corner?!"
Taco started to cry.
"I don't need you constantly preaching facts to me! All I need is... comfort! You never provide that, you just reassure me with words and I can't do that!"
Paper tried to step in. "Taco, there's no need to-"
"This doesn't involve you!" we both yelled.
"You're stressed right now," I said, turning back to her. "It's not my fault I can keep control of my emotions."
Taco walked up to me, so close I could see the anger and hurt in her eyes. That's when I knew I messed up.
"I thought you understood me. Understood... this," she whispered, gesturing to the police outside.
"I do, I just hate seeing you so worked up over what could be nothing," I responded quietly.
She looked away. "You know I have a hard time thinking logically when situations like this happen."
I wrapped her in a tight hug. "I'm sorry. I'm just stressed right now. We'll get through this— together."
She smiled softly and leaned into me, nodding. "Yeah."
I finally realized people were staring at us and I laughed awkwardly. "Ehe... hi."
I could hear Taco choke back laughter, and I smiled.
"We're gonna... uh... go."
I picked Taco up and ran to the elevator, frantically clicking the button to our apartment floor.

that was inspired by tweek and craig's argument, i thought it'd fit here hhh
—————————————————————————————————
It'd been about five months since the whole Pickle thing happened. We didn't forget, no. It played back in our minds, a constant reminder of what'd happened all those months ago. But we were staying strong. We were happy.
But, as all happy times tend to do, it didn't last.
MePhone visited the hotel a lot more now, I didn't know why. I usually dismissed it as, "He's missed us."
Now I know it was a lot more than that.
In a few months following up to now, I'd seen some weird things around the hotel. Not noticeable to a normal person just going about their day, but observable to Taco and I.
It was weird. Parts of engines, metal just laying around, a lot of technology stuff. I even asked OJ about it, thinking it was maybe a new TV or something like that, but he didn't even know what I was talking about. I was confused but I dismissed it like it was nothing.
Anyways, we were sitting in our apartment. I was letting Taco play with my hair because there wasn't much else to do.
Then, I got an idea.
"Why don't we go down to the dock?" I offered, glancing up at her.
Taco froze. "We haven't been there in... like... a year. It is where I first fell in love with you, though, and it would be nice. Why not?"
"Good!" I said, leaning to get up. Taco forced me back down.
"Not right now. In, like, 20 minutes. You just messed up a braid I was doing."
I laughed and complied to lie back down in her lap.
20 minutes later, I was digging around in our closet, trying to find our swimsuits. Taco was helping, but neither of us could find them.
"Guess we'll have to go in our normal clothes," I said irritably. "Wonder where our swimming stuff went."
Taco shrugged and turned back to look for new clothes.
"A tank top and swimming shorts should be fine. We have those, right?" I glanced at her and she nodded. "Is it even hot enough?" she asked.
I pulled out my phone and checked the weather. It was pretty late into spring, so I assumed it would be.
When it loaded, it was a high of 65 and a low of 51. I told Taco this.
"That's not bad. I think it should be fine." She smiled at me and stuffed a black tank top and gray swimming shorts into my arms. "Go put these on!"
I smiled softly and obliged.
When I got out, she already had on a white tank top and black shorts to go with it. I gaped at her before looking away and whispering, "Woah."
She looked at me, confused. "You okay?"
I nodded and took a deep breath, laughing. "You're just- I dunno..."
She stared at me and knowingly smiled. "Don't lose your head yet. We haven't even started to get there."
I rolled my eyes, but I was thinking... things.
I walked into the kitchen and packed stuff so that we could eat when we got there. When I finished, I glanced over at Taco.
"You all good?" I asked, turning to her. She nodded.
We walked out of our apartment, and as soon as we did, I felt a creeping sensation on the back of my neck as if I were being watched. I tried to shake the feeling, but it was useless.
"...Taco, do you think..."
She stopped dead in her tracks. I looked at her in confusion.
"We have to go," she whispered. She grabbed my hand and left me to talk to OJ, then came back while he looked stunned. She led me out of the hotel, leaving me completely in the dark about what was about to happen. I watched as people flooded out of the hotel, freaking out.
When we got farther into the woods and close to the dock, I decided to say something. "So... what was that about?" I stopped to look at her. She had tears in her eyes.
"I hope they all got out. There was nothing I could do, I didn't know where it was. I just knew it was there."
"Where what was?"
A detonation that was most likely a bomb answered that question.
