"-And I'm just glad you're alive," I finished. "Meeting him must've been terrifying."
"We should kill him this time, for real," she whispered. I nodded.
"I understand your anger, but we need to handle this situation carefully," I said, putting a hand on hers. "We can't just take matters into our own hands and resort to violence. That's not how justice works."
She looked at me with a mix of frustration and fear. "But what if he comes after us again? What if he tries to hurt someone else?" she asked. "I don't want to live in fear anymore."
"I know it's scary, but we have to trust the legal system to do its job. We'll report everything that happened and make sure he's held accountable for his actions," I said, trying to reassure her. "We'll do everything in our power to make sure he can never hurt anyone again."
"We did that last time, and he ended up getting turned into a half-robot." She rolled her eyes. "We need to take this into our own hands."
I gave in. "...We do. What's your plan?"
"Let me think." She went silent.
As she sat in thought, I couldn't help but worry about what she might be planning. I knew she was hurting and angry, but I didn't want her to do something that would put herself or others in danger. I decided to gently coax her thoughts.
"Hey, just be careful, okay? I don't want you to do anything reckless or dangerous," I said, placing a hand on her shoulder and pulling her into a hug.
"I know," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. "I just need to figure out the best way to get to him before he gets to us." She turned to me with a determined look on her face. "And we need everyone's help."
"Everyone?" I repeated, glancing at her. She nodded.
"Everyone. Well, er... mostly everyone. OJ, Paper, Lightbulb, and Test Tube, that's all."
I laughed softly. "That's not nearly everyone."
"Eh... whatever."
She laid out the plan.
As she spoke, I listened intently, trying to see if there were any flaws or potential dangers. Her plan was risky, but I could understand why she was so determined to carry it out. We needed to make sure that this guy could never hurt anyone again.
"Okay, I'm in," I said after she finished outlining the plan. "But we need to be careful. We don't want anyone to get hurt."
"I know," she said, nodding. "I'll make sure everything is planned out perfectly."
We spent the rest of the day working out the details of the plan, getting all our people in on it too. It was a complicated one, but it seemed like it could work. I just hoped that we were making the right decision. I didn't want anyone to get hurt, but I knew we needed to do something to stop him.
Then came the day.
We reviewed the plan one more time.
Despite our careful planning, things started to go wrong from the moment we put the plan into action. OJ, Paper, Lightbulb, and Test Tube were all on board, but there were a few miscommunications in the group. Paper had misunderstood his role and ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time, causing a disturbance that alerted that deformed hunk of metal.
As we approached him, he suddenly turned around and ran away. We chased after him, but he was surprisingly fast. In the chaos, we lost track of our group, and we were separated. My heart was pounding in my chest as I realized I was alone in dark forestry with... him.
He turned around to face me, and I could see the anger and jealousy in his eyes. I raised my hand to try and calm him down.
"Pickle, calm down. We can-"
But before I could say more, he pulled out a knife and lunged at me. I tried to dodge, but he was too quick, and I felt a sharp pain in my side as the knife pierced my skin.
I stumbled back, feeling the blood gushing out of my wound. He glared at me, declaring, "She's mine," before turning and running away, leaving me lying there on the ground, struggling to breathe. I could hear Taco yelling in the distance as I slipped in and out of consciousness.
"She's hurt!" I heard her say. "We need to get her to a hos-!..."
And I blacked out.
