I woke up to the sound of sirens, the jail cell was cold and had no life to it. God, my back was sore, sleeping on the hard floor last night was pure agony. I slowly crept out of the jail cell to the main entrance. I grabbed my jacket and started to head home.
I'm sure the cops would be looking for me soon enough, I managed to get my phone to work and I called for a cab. The cab driver gave me weird looks as I boarded the back, he asked me where I was headed. I told him the house before the mansion, just incase the story was already out in the newspaper.
The cab driver came to a halt at the little cottage before the mansion. I threw some crumpled up bills in the front seat and started to walk home. The air was cold, and the first snowflakes were falling. I was still in tattered clothes and just my spring jacket.
I came to the driveway of the mansion, sure enough, cop cars and ambulance were everywhere. I started to walk towards my door until something caught my attention. Lying on the stretcher by the ambulance was mrs.crocs body, sure it was covered up, but It still sent shivers down my spine.
God, what horrible people killing such an innocent women. I opened the door of the mansion, the smell of alcohol threw its self at me. I closed the door and walked up to my bedroom, what a long night. I lid down in my bed and just when I was going to close my eyes, I saw something wrote on my mirror.
My bright cherry lipstick was used to write something, it was smudged so it was hard to pick out.
"Thank you, you don't have to worry about me now, I'll be sleeping in peace
Mrs.croc"
I'm pretty sure that's what it said, I was too tired to make sure. I went to the bathroom and jumped to the sight of me, gosh I was ugly. My hair was matted down with sweat and grease. My black mascara was all over my cheeks. Worst of all, my cherry lipstick was all over my face too. Ew, I thought to myself. No wonder the cab driver looked at me so weird. He must've thought I worked with the circus.
I ran the hot water and got in the tub, the hot water felt nice against my cold skin. I got out and wrapped a towel around my small figure, I haven't eaten in such a long time. I through on some fat pants and tank top with a big hoodie. I threw my hair up in a messy bun and I put on some mascara.
I skipped down the stairs, to find reporters everywhere. People ran up to me with cameras and microphones. I put my hands in front of my face and ran back upstairs. I slammed my door and locked it. I heard the reporters bang on my door, they wanted the biggest scoop, but I wasn't going to be the one to give it to them. I done enough explaining already.
People weren't ever gonna leave me alone now, I might as well get used to my new life being famous for solving so many cases. I laughed at the thought of my face in the newspaper for the first time. The banging stopped and I finally went back into my hallway.
I looked downstairs first, everyone just vanished. What the hell? I looked on the wall in the kitchen, wrote there was another note.
"Your welcome"
This time it wasn't signed just wrote there, this ghost really did have my back. I warmed up some Kraft dinner and turned on some cartoons. I looked out my window and realized they were still outside but they couldn't get into my house anymore because everything was locked.
I heard a thump from upstairs, I grabbed a knife and crept up the stairs. I watched my mom crawl out of her room, throwing up everywhere. I tossed the knife on the ground and went over and helped her up. I helped her to the bathroom and she continued to throw up for the next couple hours.
Finally the noise outside died down and everything was silent. My mom turned to me and said sorry and then went back over to the toilet. I rubbed her back telling her it was okay. I felt a hot tear roll down my cheek. Still embarrassed by what my mom done at the cop station. I still loved her, no matter how many mistakes she made.
