Greg was walking around that autumn night. He was looking at the twinkling stars in the sky remembering all that times he had asked them for a wish. But, why did he do that? He didn't know really, even so he trusted that, sometime, those shiny lights will give him what he had asked so much.

Greg wanted a friend. Someone who could listen and accompany him when the things with his older half brother Wirt mess up. The truth was that most of the times, the 13 year old boy didn't know how to deal with the little Greg, who was just 5. It wasn't anyone's fault really, it just was that sometimes Wirt rather spend time with his friends, so Greg wanted to have his, ay least one.

Thinking and thinking, the boy kept walking aimlessly until he collided with a bush. Instantly he heard a strange noise. He didn't know how to describe it, since it was the first time he heard it. Curious and fearful at the same time he decided to approach a little to the bush. He startled as he heard that rare noise again.

He took a moment to think. What could it be? But nothing occurred to him. He ended up deciding to be brave so he will discover what was hiding there. He frowned, rolled up his shirtsleeves, and stepped into the leaves.

He did it with his eyes closed. He wouldn't admit it, but he was still kinda fearful. After a couple of seconds he opened just one eye, and ended up openning both due the surprise he got.

Behind that bush was a not very big pond, and floating on top of a leaf was a little green creature. Greg was stunned admiring that being. Looking more closely he found out that its skin had differents shades of green. It also had big eyes that look at him carefully. It occurred to the boy that maybe that creature, as well as him, was surprised.

"Greg! Greg!" he heard his brother calling for him but he didn't answer. "What are you doing with that frog?" Wirt asked as he crouched next to the child.

"Frog?" Greg whispered confused.

"It's dinner time, let's go" the old one ordered and started walking towards the house which was a couple of meters away.

Greg stayed with the frog. For some reason, he didn't want to leave it. Maybe he wants a friend too, he thought. And at that moment, the frog jumped towards him and as if responding to his thought, it made a sound making the little boy smile, who finally decided to take it in his arms.

Wirt sighed with exhaustion and resignation when he saw his half brother approaching with the frog.

"Where do you think it came from?" Greg asked suddenly, breaking the silence that had formed at the end of dinner.

"Who?" Wirt wanted to know.

"Jason Funderburker!" Greg exclaimed as if it were obvious.

"Which Jason? Do you mean the boy from my class?" Greg shook his head. "So... Who is Jason?"

Greg just pointed at the frog that was resting peacefully on the ground.

"Did you name your frog Jason Funderburker?"

"Well yes!" the boy rolled his eyes. "It's the perfect name".

"For sure..."

"But tell me Wirt, where do you think it comes from?"

The boy simply said "I don't know. It's just a frog". Despite responding with disinterest, that silly question had left him thinking. Where did the frogs come from?

Greg cleared his throat. "Well, I think that Jason Funderburker was the singer of a band along with other frogs when he lived in the country of frogs".

"A singer?" Wirt laughed.

"He has a good voice" Greg shrugged.

Later the boy, along with Jason of course, went to sleep, but not before thanking the stars for having fulfilled his wish. He was still intrigued by that matter, but another day he would find out why whishes should be asked to the stars. At the moment he could only concentrate on Jason Funderburker, his new discovery, who had even left his older brother thinking.

Where do frogs really come from?
